Bolton Wanderers Supporters Club

Hi, please let me introduce myself, my name is Matthew Jones, I?m an ardent Bolton Wanderers supporter who feels a little disenfranchised from the club these days, I know we have bwsa, but having attended a couple of meetings and functions over the years, I feel that this group is out dated and doesn?t represent today?s average supporter, I know we have all these excellent forums and message boards but we don?t have a direct link or voice with the club .

I think this actually puts us at a disadvantage to supporters of other clubs, as we don?t have a say in how our club is run !

So with this in mind I and a couple of other die hard wanderers have decided to start our own supporters club, one that will be proactive and that intends to take over as the official voice of BWFC supporters,

We intend to hold a public meeting before the start of the season and would encourage anybody who would like to get involved in any capacity to sign up.

PS We are not another forum or messageboard but hope to utilize all the wanderers fan sites

thanks, matt

my understanding is the club doesn't think the forums are representative of the 'match going supporter'

so it's unlikely they would visit any of the forums to get answers!

You are completly wrong Matt and your sources need to get their heads out of the sand.

FYI - this forum has held talks with the club on a regular basis with a selected few chosen to air their views.

Where do think the Fanzone came from eh? The club won't admit it but it was born out of our fans forum.

BWSA will never be disbanded if that is what you are after as the club back it far too much for it to be brushed away.

If it takes off and you gain the full support of the club and BWSA ends up on the scrap heap then good-luck.

Remember processes, policies, procedures, liabilties etc have to be well thought out before you ever embark on a project such as this and above all you need to be transparent and fully above board. You will need to seek legal advice before going any further.

Thanks for the advice, we're just starting the ball rolling, if only 30 people show an interest, it won't go any further than this, but if enough people respond then we'll hold a public meeting and take it from there.

Well

If your idea works or not, you appear to have good intentions, so good luck

If you want to do it, just do it and ignore the negativity, but take on board the advice of the folk that know what they're talking about on here

:good:

Pealad was the best thing to happen to the BWSA, an intelligent articulate lad who managed to convince the club to fund BWSA. That in itself is a minor miracle. Then they chucked him out for posting on internet sites. How dare someone do that!!!

The only people with ANY faith in BWSA are themselve, you only need to look at their committee to see how unrepresentative they are of us, the fans. I can't comment for this or any other site really, but I regularly see large numbers of the WW posters at games - and that's just the ones I've met.

I think supporters clubs have had their day and should be left to die off with the ageing members of ours. The internet is the future, the more diverse BWFC sites the better. The club can canvas opinion via that. They have communication channels open to sites if they require further assistance. If the club do anything wrong then the feedback is almost instantanious.

I'll support you as I don't think CP would back you if he wasn't convinced this was the right thing to do, but for me it's best left alone. The best thing to do is get a successful site up and running representing those supporters that don't currently use any of the available sites. This is why I try to keep WW seperate from other sites and carry unique material. A site with the same old people is pointless. This enables you to have dialogue with the club.

No the f'in turket head is'nt part of this.

but if u ask me as some one who didnt miss a game last season u want to get people on board who people repect and who go games,i bet there was'nt 20 fans who could say they went to every game home and away.i know somw people cant go to all games because of family but you need people like [mikey d or people who go alot of games to get any were.sure i'll get ripped for mine post but bwsa wont work

What about Burger King or KFC?

Eh? Explain.

As somebody viewing this from outside (and doesn't really care about them either), how is the BWSA organised?

Surely people are voted onto the organising comittee..

If so, get the BWSC memebrs to join the BESA, then get themselves voted into the commiittee positions.

as has been seaid, Pea-lad had good ideas, but was being outnumbered - if there are enough of you you should be able to oust the duffers.

failing that, wipe a few out mafia stylee.

I happen to know quite a few members of the BWSA some of whom are committee members. They are genuine fans who go to all games home and away and are quite nice people. The last word I would use to describe them is duffers.

I am not a member of the BWSA mainly because their members evenings are not really what I enjoy. I just don't understand this attitude of I detest what the BWSA do so I'm going to join to change them completely. If you feel that you want to be part of an organisation based on support for Bolton Wanderers and the BWSA is not your bag then do what Matt is attempting to do, Start your own!

That's no longer the point Biff, the BWSA is now funded by the club so changing it from the inside out is the only real option IMO. http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/SupportersClubs/

How many hoops do you have to jump through to get that sort of recognition?

Eh? Explain.

Apologies, it was a shit joke...

Firstly I'd like to thank all those who have registered their interest both on line and physically, the massive response we've had from BWFC supporters from around the globe together with all the online forums has been nothing short of overwhelming.

This is a short message Just to keep you updated on our progress.

In just over a week we have signed up over 100 supporters both on-line and non-pc users

The next stage is to organise an initial meeting in Bolton, to answer any questions and to have a general discussion on the way forward, what the BWSC can accomplish,. To form a committee and formulate a mandate.

The meeting will be announced in the local press, via email and through the many online supporter forums.

If you have any suggestions or would like to take a more active roll in this brand new Bolton Wanderers Supporters Club, you can contact me direct at bwfcsc@mail.com

or just over 0.5% of the average home crowd. Well done!

Great idea! Look at the fans across the globe who back their teams - like the Ultras, etc abroad. Always seem to get their points across to the club, etc. Also remember in Marseilles - they even had their own bar on the harbour front! Now a BWSC bar on Bradshawgate, decked in BW memorabilia - would be a great idea for starters!!
