Bolton boss Owen Coyle is ready to bring back Ivan Klasnic for a second spell at the club in a cut-price move from French side Nantes.

 

Coyle hopes to tie up a deal today for the Croatian international who was a big hit with the fans last season despite being in and out of his side.

 

Klasnic is keen to return to the Reebok and chairman Phil Gartside is trying to hammer out terms with him and Nantes because Bolton do not want to take on his ?3 million-a-year salary.

 

Nantes are in financial trouble and need to offload Klasnic because they cannot afford to pay him. All of the parties are working on a compromise deal.

I was very fearful of our lack of goalscoring and the effect that would have on close games but honestly believe that this guy makes a difference, Davies always has to be closely marked at set pieces and often takes 2 or 3 players with him, Klasnic benefits from this space and profited last season. He isn't the pacy striker but nevertheless will have more service with Petrov feeding through. This is really good news and I really hope this happens. This guy is great in front of goal, it's quite telling, when they are kicking in, prior to the match, I have very rarely seen Klas miss the target!!!! Come on Klas sign up.

I'd hazard a guess that any German interest would come from his first and home town club St. Pauli.

Depends if he's been an arse and asked for them to pay up or if he's a genuine bloke who knows the club is in the shit and has decided to walk away from his contract. It is possible, although unlikely, that he's handed in a request to be released from his contract.

He'd be a good signing and as the current squad stands I'd have him starting BUT offering anymore than a 2 year deal at 20k a week is a gamble.

Nantes can not afford his wages

 

Clubs wont match his wages AND pay a fee

 

Nantes need to get rid of his wage and only way to do this is to make him a free agent.

 

Now instead of say a ?5m fee Klasnic gets the money.

 

If both parties agree a contract can be cancelled.

I am not over excited by the return of Klasnic he does not play enough games and does not add the pace I feel we need up top, for the right deal I would take him but that deal to me would be a basic 20k a week with add ons for goals scored and appearances made.
