There was a piece on SKY yesterday about Arsen Wenger pleading that his team were fouled too regularly. It showed a stat that the most fouled team in the prem are............Everton?

 

I have often thought that the begging and pleading by the crowd at "the peoples club" was rediculous and this stat proves it. I would like to see how it breaks down for Everton home and away fouls. Must be 80% at home?

 

There can be no other explanation to this stat other than as a result of the crowd intimidating and influencing officials systematically.

 

I wonder if anyone at the F.A clocked this and bring it to the attention of the referees?

The referee cracked,& gave them several dodgy decisions,including a retaken free kick that they scored from, & where Stubbs clearly barged a Bolton player out of our wall.

For once I agree with you. After the Birmingham match I couldn't believe the criticism by some on here for fans having the audacity to 'boo' the referee! How dare they, the absolute bounders!

Its not the Reebok, its the new PC fans that would rather sit there, with their arms folded, tutting and shaking their heads pretending to be an FA quaulified coach.

I agree that all players cheat at a low level-like appealing for throws they know aren't their's etc- but the likes of Arsenal have taken it to a higher & more consistent level where opponents must be scared to even try & tackle them, while they get away with worse challenges,cynical diving,feigning injury & referee hassling.

 

The Stubbs' incident came from a dubiously awarded free kick,that was allowed to be retaken ,Stubbs then barged into our wall & they scored. It was part of a stream of decisions that went Everton's way IMO,because the home crowd managed to unsettle the referee.

Fair enough, it's what a home crowd should try to do...but at Arsenal,the referee's decisions were more affected by their players' cheating & it was only a matter of time before the defining decision (the sending off ) went against us,same as last season with the Gallas foul.

Campo was fouled just outside their penalty area, and nothing was given. The raced upfield got a free kick, and then Stubbs did his bit.

 

The crowd that day were incredibly hostile. If I recall correctly, the referee was one Mr. Howard Webb, just after he was fast-tracked, and he buckled under the pressure.

I was there. The match was, I believe, Webb's first in the Premier League.

 

He was quite fair to begin with, but then the crowd suddenly started to get on his back - it was as though someone had switched them on.

 

After this Webb was scared to give anything against Everton, and it was no surprise when he gifted them the match.

 

I paid a lot of ooney that day to see an even contest. I don't blame the crowd for doing their best for their team, but I do expect the FA to understand what is going on, and to make sure their referees can handle the pressure without buckling.

This has happend in football, since football began. Bigger Clubs, have bigger Crowds,and most of the time, the ref can be swayed.

 

But let me tell you, for every time we win a dodgy decision against Bolton, Wigan, Burnley, Wolves, Blackburn, Stoke, we are getting screwed over in games agains Liverpool, United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

 

It works both ways, the ref in the 3-3 game has been demoted for what he did at the end of that game, would he have done it the other way round.

 

I remeber when Andy Johnson was getting no penalty decisions, after Wenger and Warnock pointed out he goes down easily...course he does, he is 5ft2 getting hacked down by 6ft4 cloggers. And when Moyes sent a video of the incidents to the Boss of ref's, he agreed and said 9 out of the 10 were pens we didnt get in 1 season.

 

The derby 2 years ago, Clattenburg doing whatever Gerrard tells him, 2 sent off, and 2 pen's.

 

Blackburn away, Fat Sam talking about Cahill before, telling the ref's to watch out for him, and what happens, we get nothing and Cahill gets twatted.

 

It works both ways.

 

We have a good crowd, and if anything, it gets to the oposition players as much as the ref, making them make mistake's, dive in, swith off etc.

 

We are the most fouled because we have Arteta and Pienaar, 2 of the smallest divers in the prem.

I was there for both matches. I would guess it was the last time they put away fans in that upper tier of the main stand in 94. I remember banging on the roof to add to the noise!

I disagree, I don't see fouling as cheating. If he fouls and gets away with it then fair play. Deliberate hand balls to deny goals, play acting, begging for a player to be carding are all cheating but fouling has always been part and parcel of footy. If a foul is cheating we may aswell surrender the game to pansie bedwetters right now.

Please accept my deepest apologies. Legging up a player from behind simply to deny the goal would be cheating. Taking a chance on a tackle though that might go pear shaped isn't cheating regardless if it ends up a red. If theres a chance they can win the ball then fair fucks go for it.

 

Edit: and diving is fuckin' embarrassing bias or no bias. If people enjoy their players doing that then thats pretty feeble. Chungy seems to have become a lot more lightweight this season. Campo bucks the trend though simply because his theatrics were so funny and transparent.
