I ain't felt this good positive about Bolton since Sam was in charge and we was winning for fun near Christmas time of 2006, we've had a decline since then, with three new managers and fighting relegation and mostly rubbish football, but now the football is very good[not all the time] and the positive vibes are back, we have some talented players backed by a very positive, enthusiastic player encouraging Owen Coyle.

 

Not every game have we seen progress and sometimes we've just seen Megson esk type football, but when we get it right we look like a belting team with so much variety.

 

I think we deserve to have more points than just 15 atm, and even last season under Coyle were our luck[dodgy refs] just wasn't there[Fulham home,Chelsea and Man City away for example]

 

So how do you rate Coyle so far? 0-10, Considering when Megson left the club was in a mess, the atmosphere/feel for the club was at a low and everything looked doom and gloom, he has made great progress to sort this and now we are seeing results and I'm really looking forward to games now more than ever. I'm gonna give him an 8, and I honestly believe this is just the start of great things to come for the Whites. I just hope he's given support, and when/if we lose our best players[Lee and Cahill for example] he is able to replace them, I'm pretty sure good players will very much enjoy playing for a club with such a positive manager in charge.

To be honest, he didn't really have a difficult act to follow . . . but then neither did his predesessor!

we still concede goals, and we dont really score a great deal, which is slightly worrying.

 

his subs basically dont exist, and he only ever has one game plan, also very concerning.

 

but

 

he certainly sets up to win games, rather than to not get beat.

 

hes got the fans backing and more from players than could have been expected.

 

15pts from 11 games shows hes doing a job.

 

still early days and he's not really has a difficult period to come though yet.

 

whats interesting is that he's not really had to add to the squad like megson had too after lee/sam, so to say the club was in a mess is utter nonsence.

 

7/10 but i cant see that increasing very quickly if results continue.

The club wasn't in a mess but the squad was. They had a manager they couldn't/wouldn't play to their potential for. Coyle has done something about that.

When I say mess, I don't mean like a Pompey or ought, but IMO we would have gone down if we continued without change under Megson. I know we still have a lot of the same players, but they weren't playing well overall. The spirit wasn't there, the whole vibe was negative and a lot of fans were angry.

 

Maybe the majority fans feelings got to the players and the club, Coyle has changed this, so now we can see what the players can do without using excuses like it's all Megson's fault because the players didn't want to play under his sort of management and personality.

I'm loving what we do, just wish we could do things a different way as and when required. We are as one-dimensional as we were under Allardyce/Megson. It is a much better dimension, mind. Onwards and upwards !!

I don't even think there was that that much of a mess, know what you mean about the players couldn't/wouldn't play for him, but he he convinced some good players to join us and they didn't do so bad for him on the pitch in terms of results

 

he did his job over the 3 years he was there

 

keep us up, 13th and things weren't "that" bad on paper when he left (I think we'd have stayed up inspite of/despite him)

 

but by christ he was a c?nt and he dragged us and the players down with him with his miserable attitude towards, well, everything

 

owen's bringing us back now from the period, not sure where "back" will end up, but it does feel like we're on the up again, like diddles said, this is as good as I've felt about the going to the game since fat same had us going into christmas in 3rd

 

it doesn't matter to me if we finish 5th or 15th, I just enjoy it now more than I ever did under mergson - not just the game, but the build up to it, the positiviy in interviews, the praise for the fans and the players, and proud to see what the pundits are saying about us, MOTD was another example of this last night, shearer loved it

 

he's not got it "right" yet, going into yesterday, we'd won 1 in 8 (and lost 2 in that same time), but as I said, I don't think we need to set Owen targets in terms of points, goals and league places, I'd rather set him the target of giving us enough good stuff to get the feel good factor back in long term and hopefully getting more fans in the ground (but again, it's an unrealistic target, it's not his fault if people don't decide to come, and neither do they have to)

agreed its not much 'better', but at least its attempted to be 'better'.

 

i reckon if you look at the stats, the passing hasnt really improved that much at all. a 5-10% at the absolute most.

 

which i guess is step in the right direction, if you like that kinda thing.

I went 8 couldn't really of expected any better at this stage for me - he inherited a good group of players and a depressed club he's creating a good team and getting the best out of the players and he's give us a club to be proud of again.

That made me laugh out loud - spot on observation!!

 

Scored it 9. There have been games when things have been no better, but I now look foward to games - my optimism is back and that had been taken away during the Megson years. Just love Coyle's enthusiasm, encouragement of the players even when they do something wrong, and the don't give up attitude. When we are in front we keep going, if pegged back (like against the scum we try to score another, if behind I don't feel we are out of it (brum at home).

 

For bringing back the enjoyment for me a big 9 - the optimist in me thinks this season could be massive - the big boys are not as unbeatable as they were, one of the lesser teams is going to have a mega season - why not us?

6/10 for me. He's doing OK, but nothing spectacular yet. We still concede far too many goals for my liking
