Firewood Wanted

Featured Replies

Reet I am jumping on the bandwagon and get a lovely wood burner fitted in the front room, any idea we to get cheap or free firewood?? if theres any joiners on here i will happilly take it all off your hand.

I have seen a few folks that sell all the reclaimed stuff, I would rather source it all myself though as im a tightass

Rivi: there's loads of wood there.

Window fitters old frames im sure they would be able to sort you out.

I've got a stick you can have for free, providing you can collect it.

ive got a open fire (ON NOW) cant burn wood if its painted and trees you have to wait 2 years when cut down or thay dont burn and you need a shit load to mate :good:

ive got wood.

HTH

if theres a factory/warehouse near you, they'll have broken pallets

Heard theres about 15 metres of fence lay on the ground outside Holiday Inn on Middlebrook.

You should've gone bommy raiding last month.

Danny, you need to get the proper stuff otherwise it fecks up your fire. You need to burn hard wood that has been seasoned and it costs ?50 + ?10 delivered for a big bugger of a sack which saves you about ?30 as you're buying in bulk.

Derek Fox & Sons (Timber) Ltd. Woodsfold Sawmill near Brinscal

Where I work has the biggest scrap wood yard in England.... they won't give you any though, it all gets chipped and burned in power stations or made into MDF :pardon:

Where I work has the biggest scrapyard in England

Isn't that called Scotland ?

:nea:

That'd be Farnworth

I have an open fire. Chopped me some trees down in summer and the wood has been drying for a few months now.

You're best bet is yards nearby full of trucks where you might be able to blag old broken pallets.

Otherwise, you're buying seasoned logs and frankly you're in for an expensive winter. I 100% guarantee yer missus will still insist on having theheating on upstairs even with a fire on the go.

Planning ahead, next summer get yourself up to Rivvy. You can legally take away any wood that has fallen naturally - get caught chopping stuff down and your in BIG trouble. Yo'll need help, a pick-up/van and a chainsaw & axe.

Your last option is the easiest. Put a few bowls of cat food outside your front door. Cats burn for hours and you'll be providing a very useful public service.

I am away at the moment, but when I get back in 2 week you can have a ton bag off me for free, small charge on delivery

Don't want to piss on Danny's chips but I know of places that pay good money for decent condition pallets... and they collect too, mind you most of these ones look shite

Nah, they're all pretty much knackered.
