Seem to remember there was a kids TV show, filmed at the Octogan starring Charlie Corolli (a clown) and the show was Right Charlie!

 

Charlie Wright was our keeper and I'm sure they played the theme tune to Right Charlie! during the warm up.

Not sure when Frankie signed but he scored on debut vs Stoke Oct 1st '77. I thought we got him on loan and completed later, but no sure.

I was locked in around that time too.

We did. He was on loan from Leicester who were in the First Division at the time. He dropped down to the Second Division because Ian Greaves was his former manager at Huddersfield and he persuaded him that he'd be back in the top flight by the end of the season! It was a real coup at the time.

Peter Nicholson was not named in the caption to the photograph. He is at the end of the middle row next to Jim McDonagh.

Poor Peter Nicholson didn't even get a mention.

The one in the trackie is Bill Ridding the one I didn't was the player before him might be Ernie Forrest,

and the first on the front row could be Tommy Woodward. Hoped Biff could have helped me out here.

....and Jimmy Armfield split his head open on the dugout roof when Alan Waldron beat Chesterfield at home with a 94th minute 40 yard thunderbolt (note - the minute and the yards may have been enhanced a bit by my memory )

 

Yes Happy, from Blackpool. May have been Armfields first transfer business for us but I wouldn't bet my left one on it.

I always thought Henry Mowbray was a fan's favourite for his take no prisoners attitude, not in the same class as Tommy Banks obviously.

wrong, Reidy played til December and Henry til March.

 

we were stuck at the bottom of Div 2 all season after losing 9 out of 13 at the start.

 

we finished bottom and the 2 previous seasons 18th and 19th, the only highlight of the season was Seamus McDonagh scoring v Burnley.

 

they were nowhere near ever making a mark, 1980 to 1987 were seriously bad years as a Bolton fan.
