Superb find!! Obviously I’d love my Dad to be still alive (sadly at 105 it would be wishful thinking) but it’s stuff like this that rings so many bells about stuff he told me By 1945 he’d be

Decent interviews with our chaps on here

Didn't Phil Neal come out in the press ripping into him , I'm sure someone mentioned it on here a while ago.

I don't remember that. Neal could be a bit of an amateur with the media in his early days so I wouldn't be surprised. You seriously couldn't fault Farnworth in either 83/4 or 84/5. After he left Bolton he hated us. You could see it when PNE came to play us in 92/3 and he was their goalie. He was gutted he didn't stop SJM's pen. Can't blame him really.

He was also a Preston fan too , he played a blinder that game .

Didn't know that. The lad who gave away the pen that day in 93, Simon Burton ... he was a Bolton fan!

And I didn't know that .

My uncle used to be a regular in Adlington con club , and Simon and his father in Law used to go in  a bit  , I ended up getting some training gear and other bits and Bob's of him . The best thing he gave me was a signed freight Rover final programme (which I've still got) , the only autographs missing are Mark Gavin and Phil Neal .

Pretty sure that was the first kit for an age that itd been possible to buy

Yes, mate.
Sponsor logo aside ( 😉 ) , proper smart kit.

Neal slagged off Salmon after the FA cup tie at Coventry. His quote was something along the lines of Neal having a go at him and "I've left him sulking in the dressing room".

Farnworth was a great shot stopper and had an excellent run on penalties but he was awful in the air.  The number of points he cost us, flapping at crosses.  In the week leading up to the Freight Rover final Bristol had openly said in their own press that they believed our keeper was a weak link.

The footage of the Coventry games makes horrendous watching , Salmon goes all Kamikaze ably assisted by Dave Sutton.

I dont think I've ever seen that footage.  I remember in that years cup final programme Mickey Gynn was interviewed about their matches in the previous rounds.  He basically said the game against us was a walk in the park!

Well he didn't deserve that treatment from Neal. He went on and had a good career. In the finish the club he made the most appearances for was Wigan.

Now my memory tells me you're only right from 85 or so onwards. In 83/4 and 84/5 there was nothing wrong with the way he dealt with crosses. That's the season when it all went wrong .... pretty soon after Neal arrived. Whether that's co-incidence or not I don't know.

Are you seriously trying to tell me Ken Bates of all people was quite happy to go in blind , on a man who you claim had got a dodgy ankle , and be quite happy to write off 4 Million quid.

Ask Simon Marland

Maybe he was telling stories

So it's the word of Simon Marland,  who in Fairness is hardly going to criticize his employers for selling their top asset on the cheap.

I think we are kind of going around in circles here , you think it was a fair amount I think we were short changed , and Eidur's career after leaving us points to chelsea getting an absolute bargain.

Boo , is there any footage of him openly pissing himself at the 3rd goal.

Dunno but 43yrs on & I'm still scratching my head at the decision to play Mark Came as the lone striker on an icy pitch 😊

Against expectation I enjoyed that. All down to earth blokes - both Blackpool and Bolton. First time I've ever heard Bill Ridding and Willie Moir.

(Blackpool bastards)

Some cracking goals off Dioufy. He used to get in there where it could possibly hurt, and was shit hot for a rebound cum second ball. Added bonus of a suited Campo at 4 mins.

Thanks.
