Signs Of An Incompetent Boss/manager Include...

Featured Replies

- An overwhleming interest in niff naff and trivia, minutiae, 'doing things by the book,' irrelevant rules and regulations, procedure and points of order. Polishing the silver while the house is burning down.

- Terrified of people who are lower down the food chain but cleverer than them. They are viewed as a threat rather than an asset.

- Meetings after meetings after meetings. With, granted, a few exceptions, meetings are a handy way of making it look like you're doing something rather than fucking well doing it.

- Too much effort spent trying to 'get in with the lads' in order to gain their respect, when thius could just as easily be achieved by being half decent.

- Over-long hours. If you can get your stuff done to the proper standard in fifty hours a week, why work seventy? That shouldn't impress anybody. This is especially bad in my line of work. There are HQs where everyone is terrified to leave before the seniormost person in the set up has left. It only reflects poor time management and an inability to multi-task.

- Changing character when senior people are around. Have the confidence that your natural personality is good enough.

These are some observations I have made over the last few years, but primarily in the last few days...

One I particularly can't stand is once some one reaches a certain level being seen on the office floor suddenly becomes a no no.

I'm being made redundant next week due to relocation. On Thursday, I'll be having a leaving interview with the Managing Director. It will be the first time she had bothered to talk to me in the 2 years I have been at the Company.

This is my favourite one. I had one at my last place of work. Arseholing incompetent bitch who, I'm not proud to say, brought out a side I didn't know I had.

All of your above, Maggie, do bring out my churlish side.

You generally tell them to stick their leaving interview up their arse, don't you?

And turn down the chance to tell a few home truths?

I wouldnt, not one for burning bridges myself, yer never know just when you might need them again. Id be smiling and nice, that hurts more than showing bitterness i reckon :good:

I hate those win organise a brain-storming session to get ideas and stuff and then claim the results as his own work without any acknowledgement for those who actually did the work.

and then wonder why nobody says much at subsequent brain-storm meetings.

my boss is scouse

You know me better than that. My armpits aren't hairy nor are my shoes sensible.

I hated the toffee nosed cunts in a purpose built building giving me my redundacy when our pit shut down.

The Menopause

was in a meeting today and we were asked had we done summat we were asked to do last week, no real pressure being applied when asking, but it caused one person to burst out crying and have to be consoled by other managers for 2 hours. Two fucking hours! Get a grip!

Also piss poor time management. Stop fucking chatting shit to everyone all day and when deadlines approach you wont be rushing!
