I`m English and proud of it. I`m a bolton fan and even more proud. But, if an English club reaches a final then I`m with the English club, irrespect who they are.

These Spanish sides, especially Real Madrid have an attitude problem where they believe they are bigger and better than anyone else and have the devine right to tap up who-ever they like, when they want and when-ever, sheer fuckin ignorant in my opinion.

If It`s Man United that represent England, then so be it. Barcelona are no different than Madrid, both are sheer ignorant, end of rant.

Ooooooh. So, just to clarify, you'll be cheering on Man U in the final??

  • I have been saying this for a long time now, people just automatically believe what sky tell them. "Serie A is shit and Spanish football is the best" (its got nothing to do with spending multi million

I agree.

Don't suppose there's any point reminding you he's still only 23 is there?

These supposed 'plenty of chances' on the World stage would've therefore have been when he's been 18 years old and 22 years old.

I agree with you though, he's playing in the best club side of this generation amd of course that's a huge help. But, he's an integral part of that great side. It's a bit like saying Xavi's not all that nor is Iniesta because they too are surrounded by great players.

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this.

If we all agreed on everything what would be the point in forums? :drinks:

Age is irrelevent though, as im being told hes the best of a generation now.

and Iniesta and Xavi arn't being spoken about in the same way.

but yes I agree its good to disagree.

It's the old 'death by ebola or Aids' malarkey, although in the end its ABU.

Anythong that pisses off Clive Tyldesley is fine by me, as he pisses me off everytime he gets airtime.

I also have to interact with more ManUre supporters than Barcelona, so it's perhaps better that Barca win.

Okay, just out of interest - who would you say is the best around at present?

Is it worth having a sweep on how long it takes Tyldesley to make the link of Man U vs Barcelona... and "that magical night in Barcelona..." :bad:

Best all round player for me(or was until his Injury) is Higuain.

Im not saying hes better techinally, im not saying hes a better dribbler, im not saying he scores better goals, but pound for pound he is better at this moment in time(or was until his injury). Madrid miss him more than Barca miss Messi. He doesn't have a weakness to his game, he does absolutely everything. He's an out and out goalscorer, who runs his arse into the ground and gets back, he can head, dribble, score from 2 or 20 yards out. He can play up front on his, in a two, wide right/left, or behind the front men. I can't name a weakness to his game.

and he does this for Madrid and Argentina.

Well, considering he's only been capped 13 teams I'm not sure I'd agree he's really proven himself at international level.

Also with Madrid being a poorer all round team than Barca then his presence will be more sorely missed.

With the likes of Messi and Higuain up front for the Argies you have to wonder why they didn't perform better in the World Cup... but then you realise they had players such as Gutierrez at full back and fuckwits like Maradonna managing them.

without being to obvious, id say its because certain players didn't perform

without being to obvious, id say its because certain players didn't perform

Any players in particular?

haha...

IMO though, whilst certain 'underperforming' players have got 3 men marking them, the rest of his team-mates should be exploiting the gaps that must invariably be left.

am certainly not one for being swayed by public opinion but Messi is the best I've ever seen, from what I've seen

and at 23 his honours list is immense

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionel_Messi#Awards_and_honours

certainly better than Higuains

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzalo_Higua%C3%ADn#honours

he's not done it for the argies yet but there are other factors

there's a big chance, with the next WC being in Brazil, that Argies will do well and win, then it'd be even harder to dispute

he's often accused of not performing for Argentina by fans and it's been argued that he doesn't put the effort he does for Barca, but given what Barca have done for him and his family it is understandable to an extent

the next World Cup could be his defining tournament

Anyway come on you cheating bastards make em have it

just makes me hate them and what theyre about

Catalan independence?

Im not having the honours argument at all, david may won more than alan shearer etc etc

If and when messi does it for argentina then i will admit hes the best, but hes not for whatever reason

Do you honestly put him ahead of the real ronaldo and zidane? Both performed at the highest level for club and country, no excuses whatsoever. Ronaldo even had to beat some horrific injuries and he still did it consistently in lesser teams than the currentbarca team.

The only player that comes close to Messi is C.Ronaldo, both have had World Class seasons[AGAIN]

Messi DOES perform for Argentina, he was in the top 10 players at the World Cup 2010, yes he failed to score, but are players only judged on goalscoring at World Cup's?

Messi got assists and was involved in goals/chances in South Africa, yes he didn't score for fun like he does for Barca but it's NOT because he played poor.

The video below shows clips that show he does perform in internationals, he's got a decent goal ratio also for Argentina.

and no I'm not basing my opinion on a video highlight video, I'm basing it on memory, not being a sheep.

Higuain is a quality striker, but to say he's better than Messi is utter madness, there's nothing to base it on and there's no one else who I've heard share the same view[good for you though for showing assertiveness] Higuain does have faults, NO player is perfect.

I watch a lot of Spanish football and I really like Higuain's game, but he is no-where near to being known as the number 1 player in the World, he does miss very good chances, if he had no faults, Real wouldn't have got knocked out to Lyon last season in the Champions League.

If Messi isn't the greatest because of failing to score during World Cup's, then should players like Forlan, Klose etc be?

Double post.

Messi is a fucking good player up there with the best and probably the best in the world at what he does.

That said drop Messi or C Ronaldo into a team like bolton where the rest of the side are a bunch of cart horses in comparison and i reckon Ronaldo would still produce plenty of goals. The greasy prick has more to his game IMO

It's very close Frank, the only player I'd put ahead of those two is the Barcelona Ronaldinho.

None of the listed above are a patch on the Queen of the South legend Paul Burns

Messi is the best all round player in the world at the moment, in time he will win a world cup with Argentina and will be a football great, I have no doubt. Higuain is a good player but from what I have seen his performances are a good way behind Messi, the consistency of Messi is unbelievable in nearly every game I see him play he has a major influence, I cannot remember many players over the years who can compete with his level of class and consistency.

Im not having the honours argument at all, david may won more than alan shearer etc etc

A) individual honours, not club honours, if we're being picky, i doubt many/any players have picked up more at his age

B) messi is 23, I don't know what zidane and ronaldo had done by that age so we should prob come back in 8 years to compare those 3's careers, no doubt it'll be close

Methinks maybe Garrp is actually Simon Weston* and he's of the opinion that Lionel Messi Snr was actually an Argie Skyhawk fighter pilot in 1982.

* advert for the Simon Weston health grill: "I loved it so much, I put my face on it".

The guy is a bit toasted, he can't help that, he was serving his country.

But yeah fuck him he's Welsh.

Don't care for Barcelona or Spanish football but I dearly want them to win this.

The only way I would want the scum to win was if they were playing a certain club from north of the border.

The chances of Queen of the South getting there is minimal Skippy
