Probably not!

Would be handy though!

Is it just a case of waiting for them to mail you or are you able to go online and find out?

Refunds are only for Tory voters. Paybacks are being sent out to Labour voters

According to who? Your accountant by any chance?

Let's say he sits on every cheque he gets for a month before passing JUST THE VALUE OF THE CHEQUE to his clients. . . think about it!

I got ?1400 back last year.

Got the ?1000 within a week of finding out, took me 4 moths to get the rest. Jobs worth cunts.

Doubt i'll get one this year.

How do you that when your PAYE?

How do you that when your PAYE?

I'm PAYE and my tax is always cocked up (but I do get taxed on various benefits which moves my tax code around, plus I get some back for my pension contributions etc) - anyway, as a matter of course, even though I am PAYE, for the last couple of years I have still done a self assesment and managed to get a few small rebates.....although this year I actually owed them some extra due to a change of car

Cheque arrived in post for less than half the amount owing, cheeky cunt has ripped me off big time on fees and kept over a grand

I've never had a tax rebate in the 30 years I've been earning

Then again I've never had a bill either.

A guy I work with worked for the AA for donkeys and retired with a pension and got a job with us 5 years ago to pass the time and earn a few extra quid... The first three years was fine but they had made a mistake with his tax codes and after 3 years he got a bill for over 2 grand which he paid because he realised he was due the tax bill. Last year he thought it was sorted and went on a couple of holidays which cost a bit o9nly to come home to another letter saying that they had fucked up again and he owed a grand which after a massive amount of phoning and arguing he had to pay. They GUARANTEED it was sorted.

About a month ago he got another letter from them saying that he again owed them over a thousand quid. As of yet he hasn't paid it but he is shit scared of fighting them as they say they are right and although they admit they made a mistake he owes the cash. Surely they must be held accountable for fuck ups like this, if he had spent the cash in his account why should he end up in debt because they can't do their jobs properly?

Sadly, it doesn't work like that. You and you alone are responsible for ensuring that you pay the correct amount of tax, they can fuck up all they want, but you need to check it. Even if you are PAYE and your employer does something wrong, it's still your responsibility to ensure it is corrected.

When your mate got his frist tax bill for ?2000, he should have gone to an accountant to have a look at it properly.........in hindsight :pardon:

Ever since I got told I owed them, never a year has gone past without

my tax being wrong.

Just wish they would leave me alone !! (and yes I always pay)

It's the same with me, my tax code generally seems to change 3 or 4 times during the course of each year. I've been quite lucky that in general they end up woing me something, but I have had the odd occasion where I've owed them (like this year)

It seems like once they've got it wrong it takes them many years to sort it out.

To be fair though, I had have a lot of pluses and minuses to take into account on my tax code, and there is generally a delay in our payroll informaing the tax office of changes to company cars, fuel benefits as well as pension contributions etc.

I've give up worrying about it now and just go with the flow

i've always been paye

ended up owing 9 grand once

What's tax?
