Shock Defeats.

Seen a load over the years, the one what puzzled me was getting beat at Mansfield 4-0 in 91 after a great undefeated run.

0-3 at home v Northampton.

Bobby Barnes destroyed us.

Brighton 2-0 after beating the Scouse

Getting beat at home to Shrewsbury 1-4 must have been an omen to me with what was to come in the following seasons.

Yep that and the 5-2 reverse at Southend were totally against the grain

5-1 tonking to Coventry in 98 was pretty shocking

5-2 at Sarfend the season we got 100 goals and 99 points.

1-3 at home to Rodney Jacks! (or was it 0-3?)

The battering at Scarborough, i think it was either 3-0 or 4-0. Took a great following too :(

Brighton at home one January or February. It was fucking freeeeeezing! The club had erected a scaffold handrail down the Burnden Terrace and someone went under it for an unhindered walk to the bogs. A copper rugby tackled him and arrested him. That copper was a lad I joined the fire service with and he was a prick when I knew him and a prick in the police. I think he ended up retired out of the job.

Hartlepool at home under Rioch. Shock 2-1 defeat but also the defeat the team needed to give them a kick up the arse. Think we came back from 2-0 down away to Chester in the next match as part of a great unbeaten run

Oh and Oldham at home in the cup. I know we were the lower league team at the time but after the run we were on I was convinced we had it in the bag

Until Patterson and Beckford

I was gutted after that Oldham cup game. Wasn't it the time when the whole of the Manny Rd North used to shout at the away management to "Sit Down!" so Joe Royal got all the bench to stand up. It wasn't until a copper had words pointing out that we hadn't paid for a ticket to see his back that he sat them down again.

He later quoted to the papers that it was very charitable for BWFC to open up the terrace behind him to the local lunatic asylum!

All I remember from that game is a load of shrieking school kids away to our right.

Bizarre night that.

Huddersfield Town away the same season as Mansfield.

We lost 4-0 after beating them the midweek before in the sherpa van (or whatever it was called)

Keith Edwards hat trick for them (think he was over 40 !!)

Didn't help that one of my best mates was a Huddersfield season ticket holder.

Mighty Meite pizza and Bolton fucking up against Reading late on, lost 3-1, conceding 3 goals in the last 5 minutes or so.

This was hard to take.

aaah, the good old 'pit of hate' :)

"we are evil" - great chant

Stoke City 5 Bolton Wanderers 0. That result hurt and was a bit shocking!

Didnt we get to Europe two weeks later?

3-1 at home to Crewe 1999? Rodney Jack was on speed!

Did we get beat 3-0 off chesterfield, mid 90s and SKD bagged a hat rick?

It was 3-2 to Chesterfield in the 4th Rd of the FA cup. It was played on a Tuesday night in Feb 97, i think the original match was postponed.Oh i forgot to add that SKD did bang an hatrick that neet.

Can't remember the year, but Palace at home (Reebok) and we were 3-1 up going into injury

time. The tossers scored 2 and we drew 3-3.

I was livid for days after that.

Year we came up - think we did a similar thing against Wimbledon as well same season.

First game I ever left early

Me and me Dad where in the "away seats". They where at the end of the main stand I think, dunno why

beat me to it, at burnden in the cup, we where ale expecting to breeze through and have another cup run. SKD and Chesterfield ended up getting robbed in a semi against boro that year. Third tier and they should have reached the final.
