Bottom On Christmas Day?

Featured Replies

I know apart from WBA the team who are bottom of the Barclays Premier League on Christmas Day are relegated, but will it be us?

Fixtures before then

BOLTON 9pts GD -16

Fulham A

Blackburn A

BLACKBURN 10pts GD -12

West Brom H

Bolton H

WIGAN 12pts GD -15

Chelsea H

Liverpool H

WOLVES 14pts GD -12

Stoke H

Norwich H

SUNDERLAND 14pts GD 0

Spurs A

QPR A

I've not include the teams on 15 points as although we can catch them on points our GD is shit.

How many points have teams had in the past on Xmas day?

We will not be bottom on Christmas day! Keep the Faith!!!!!!!!

Didn't we draw at west ham the second season back in the prem to lift us of the bottom and drop them to bottom. We need something like that at Blackburn next week. Cant see it as they have two home games before Xmas

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was Freds Dads Christmas present from a very understanding wife/partner..

How would bottom v second bottom drawing affect those two positions?

if blackburn win there two winnable homes and the same from wolves we are fked end of

Defonitly see us bottom at christmas.

Cant see us getting anything at Fulham, and maybe a point at Blackburn.

Lets do a West Brom!

And go down the next season after the euphoria! :D

We would need to win one of those games not to be bottom

Santa's gonna have to work his magic for that

Yes.

Next question?

Bottom for end of season?

Now I'm depressed & It's only Tuesday, cheers for that.

I can't find out how many points WBA had the Christmas they survived but they stayed up on 34 points depsite being bottom on the last day.

Oh and they sacked Megson in October and put Bryan Robson in charge.

And then come back much better than we are now!

Tada! :D

THe season they were relegated I think Ipswich were bottom with 8pts at Christmas, but then won 7 out of 8 and pull away from the bottom before slumping again and going down.

The West Ham game I think the draw at UP kept them bottom and us 2nd bottom.

We really need to win one of the Fulham / Blackburn games.

Shoot for the Stars! Why not both

Because he doesnt want to be laughed at for his ridiculous over optimism

We are at the minute the worst team in the league. Only a huge change in personnel in January and a slice of luck would see us stay up. I dont know what Coyle or anyone else could do differently from now on in, the damage as been done.

They had 16pts from 24 games at Christmas.

Managed to get 18pts from their remaining 14 games.

Since we re-joined the Barclays Premier League:

Bottom three clubs at Christmas-----Final relegated clubs

01/02 ----- 20 Ipswich 19 Leicester 18 Derby -------20 Leicester 19 Derby 18 Ipswich

02/03 ----- 20 WHU 19 Bolton 18 WBA -----20 Sunderland 19 WBA 18 WHU

03/04 ----- 20 Wolves19 Leeds 18 Portsmouth -----20 Wolves 19 Leeds 18 Leicester

04/05 ----- 20 WBA 19 Southampton 18 Palace -----20 Southampton19 Norwich 18 Palace

05/06 ----- 20 Sunderland 19 Birmingham 18 Portsmouth -----20 Sunderland19 WBA 18 Birmingham

06/07 ----- 20 Watford 19 Charlton 18 WHU -----20 Watford 19 Charlton18 Sheff U

07/08 ----- 20 Derby19 Wigan 18 Sunderland -----20 Derby19 Birmingham 18 Reading

08/09 ----- 20 WBA 19 Blackburn 18 Man City -----20 WBA19 Middlesbrough 18 Newcastle

09/10 ----- 20 Portsmouth19 WHU 18 Wolves -----20 Portsmouth19 Hull 18 Burnley

10/11 ----- 20 WHU19 Wolves 18 Wigan -----20 WHU19 Blackpool 18 Birmingham

As can be seen, apart from our very first season back up in the big time in 2001/02, the three bottom clubs at Christmas have never ALL gone down at the end of the season.

After 2001/02, One club in bottom three at Christmas has managed to get out of the relegation places by the end of the season and in each of the last 4 seasons TWO TEAMS have escaped the drop having been in the bottom three on Christmas day.

Pretty sure we had 10 points in our 1st ever season int Premier League at Christmas, at Burnden when we went straight back down.

We got a point at White Hart Lane, just before Christmas to make double figures.

IF we can get something out of the Fulham match & IF we can beat Blackburn, then I'll have renewed hope........

If not.... the writings on the wall & no mistake.

What has happened in previous years matters not.

AT THE MOMENT we're playing like a team that has already given up.

Sorry, out of order that. I take it back.
