chief wiggum Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Wolves, Roverrs and QPR losing. Beat Everton on Wednesday and we are right back in it! Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 All lost. I would take a draw at Everton right now. Quote
no balls Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I would take a 1 goal deficit defeat. Yes, I'm that positive. Quote

BL2wanderer Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I'm 51 years old and watched the whites through thick and thin. For you young ones out there, keep the faith. not easy BUT you just never know with the Wanderers! It's the club you support whatever the team is. Players come and go, the club and the name stay the same! Happy New Year!! Quote

I can see in a few years time, a sponsors name will go in front of the old name - Pataks Bolton Wanderers has a bit of spice about it. Edited January 2, 2012 by Burndens Bogs Quote

Beat Everton on Wednesday and we are right back in it! a bit of hope for the glass half full people unfortunately me being more of a half empty person i still think it will take 38 points or so stay up and i cant see us getting more than 32 the pack getting away, norwich swansea etc, looks like 3 from 5. SpiritofBurnden Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 the pack getting away, norwich swansea etc, looks like 3 from 5. Can't understand why people say things like that when there's still half the season left. Wigan were dead and buried a month ago, they could be out of the bottom three tomorrow. Quote
no balls Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Can't understand why people say things like that when there's still half the season left. Because I can't see any fight in our team. Quote

Wigan were dead and buried a month ago, they could be out of the bottom three tomorrow. just looking at the numbers - 13 from first half of season, leaves the same 19 teams to play, to get to the usual survival mark of 40 means you need 27 points - a similar total to when we were playing very well first half last year, do u really think our current team can do that when the only teams who have got 27 in the first half this year are the big six and newcastle. OK it may not take 40 but i still cant see 8 victories for us. id say we'll get zero from the big six - certainly the 3 away games, and prob the 3 home, leaves 13 games try find 8 wins. with this team no way Quote
tarian1979 Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 thats previously sixth bottom fulham pulling clear now as well (never gonna go down like) basically look no further than wigan bolton blackburn wolves and qpr (will they spend their way out though) for your 3 to go Quote
HomerJay Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Fulham looked decent Amazing what a decent manager can do with a load of average players. Quote
SpiritofBurnden Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 to get to the usual survival mark of 40 means you need 27 points The 'usual survival mark' is one more point than the team that finishes third bottom. Last season it was 40. The season before it was 31. What a team does in the first half of the season doesn't necessarily reflect what they'll do in the second half. Hull had 27 points after 19 games a couple of seasons ago. They took just 8 points from the next 19 games. West Ham only had 14 points from 19 games in 2002/3. They took 28 points from the next 19 games. Quote

I like many attended every home league game in 2011, I just can't see how things are going to change.. Maybe we will pick up the odd unexpected win against the top teams (although our recent record is pitiful) but do you seriously think we will get more than 20 points in the second half of the season? And if we 'only' got 20 points, would 33 keep us up? I just can't see it. Hope I'm wrong, I really do. Quote

Juan.Kerr Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 We're shit at the moment, true, but if some get the kick up the arse they deserve we can still get out of it. The second half can't be as bad as the first. Scum and Chelski won't score five again. It's all a matter of confidence. Well a lot of it anyway. Quote

MickyD Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I reckon by the end of April you'll be adding Swansea to that list. Maybe Narrrrrrrrich too. Lots of new clubs start off well and fade by the end. Quote

Mathematicaly its obviously not worse. But at that point we had just been nobbed 4-0 at Villa on a terrible run and with only 5 games to make 4 points up. I say keep the faith because we could turn it round as we have 19 games to take points from and yes we have 19 games to fall further adrift before someone points it out. Quote

I was at that Villa game, and I was convinced that was that, but I was wrong as it turned out to be fair. You're right, you never know... I genuinely admire your spirit, I wish I could share your optimism but I have little confidence in the management / players to turn it around. I really do hope I'm wrong. Quote
