Megson Interview

The weekly one hour interview slot on Thursday evening 6 till 7 on BBC Radio Manchester is with Gary Megson. Heard a trailer and he pulls no punches in his view of Bolton fans.

While I don't agree with him, as he brought most of it on himself, he did make some interesting points.

Definitely worth a listen!

  • And Phil Neal to agree with all 4 of them.

  • Was he filling in for PG while he was off sick or something?

BUGGER ME BACKWARDS WITH A BENT BANANA.

Most people in their own minds realise we played a weakened team against Sporting. It is the fact that the abysmal showing at Wigan the weekend after that pisses people off.

Gartside probably said that to him imo and i dont blame him. If your the chief at a company you try and do whats best for the company overall and thats all he was doing. Gartside can be a bit numb sometimes but everything he does he does it with the best interests of the club at heart imo.

spot on

I still don't think we'd have stayed up had we progressed in the UEFA and played some of them last 5 games on a sunday on the back of a game thursday

so the idea was to rest the team so the rest could come out all firing at wigan, and that didn't happen, the exact opposite did, so that's down to gary

Worse than that - he reckons he's the first Bolton manager to beat United AT Bolton.

I thought he was the first Bolton manager to beat United at the Reebok? Wasn't he?

he was, and in the PL, which bar a season at BP is essentially the same thing

I like a lot of people on here supported him to the bitter end, because he was the manager. Because of this onging shit I regret giving that support. As someone else has said he is trying to re write his own history.

I cannot believe any of this crappy interview.................he has been away two years now, why has he waited so long to drop Garside in it with that bullshit and factually wrong comment about being told to blow the game, there must be, by doing or suggesting this an offence in there somewhere? Bringing the game into disrepute, trying to fix the outcome of a game?

This man is a grade A cunt, he is where he deserves to be, RUNNING A NOWHERE CLUB IN A NOWHERE LEAGUE IN A NOWHERE CITY.

I was pretty sure in his last game in charge Megson had money on a draw and did what he could to ensure he got one

no way, he brought off elmander and put on mccann to win the game!

I can understand where Megson's coming from to be honest, and to be fair, he's not called a press conference to talk about Bolton. If anything, this thread only proves that it's the other way round when it comes to "getting over it".

The people who talk about him as if he's just raped their daughter remind me of those Liverpool/Manchester United fans who've never been to a game but, when they win, stand in the pub gloating as though they scored the goals them-fucking-selves. It seems the people with the strongest opinions against Megson, are the people with the least reason to voice them. As in every aspect of life I suppose.

Wasnt it klasnic?

Bollocks is that

Did the supporters (again the whole entity) set up this little interview?

he was, and in the PL, which bar a season at BP is essentially the same thing

That's not what he said - I listened to it and he said he was the first Bolton manager ever to win a home game against United.

Agreed Jules, Megson since he has left the club, has never missed an opportunity to slag the club and its supporters. Either through the written media, television or radio. This latest episode underlines the guys mental state. Why is he admitting complicity in match fixing, why, with his continued and regular rantings has he waited all this time to tell of this event? Why doesnt Garside sue the arse of him? Why did the club continue to pay him, when during the year of garden leave he continually slagged the club and its supporters off?

Wasnt it klasnic?

cant remember, tried to forget that game!

Why doesnt Garside sue the arse of him?

So if he doesn't, are you going to start a "Gartside out" campaign, seeing as you are implicating his involvement in match-fixing?

He said Stockport didn't show any class when they "sacked" him, not showing much now, eh Gary?.

Ginger cunt.

Cheese you are a very brave man. Stupid but very brave.

gary who?

I know, well, I don't, I haven't listened to it, but burdenpaddock asked "I thought he was the first Bolton manager to beat United at the Reebok? Wasn't he?"

so I said he was, as he was

In hindsight, he did do a reasonable job; kept us up from a seemingly impossible position, brought in some decent young players (Cahill, Muamba, Chungy, Mavies etc) and got rid of a lot of deadwood. Whatever people think of him, he did leave the club in a better state than when he started.

However, I will only remember him from the last 2 months of his tenure and what he has said about the club since. He's a horrible, bitter & twisted ginger twat and I hope other championship/league 1/league 2 chairmen are making a note not to employ Megson. He's like the ex-girlfriend that just won't get the message.

was sacked for applying for the H'field job if I remember right

he wasn't approached

so basically he sent a letter to Huddersfield saying I don't want to manage Stockport anymore, so come get me

so the Stockport chairman did what he could to fulfil Megson's ambition

something like that

So if he doesn't, are you going to start a "Gartside out" campaign, seeing as you are implicating his involvement in match-fixing?

Don't get or want to get your drift mate. Your are making 1+1=5

Are you the Ginger Winger in disguise?

Before Megson arrived, we knew he had a track history of creating bad blood at nearly every club who'd had the misfortune to have him as a member of staff. With the exception of some (not all) WBA fans, he's almost universally remembered as being a poor Manager.

Given that introduction, I was wary of him from the outset, but gave him my full backing until proven otherwise. Unfortunately, he did prove otherwise and has continued to prove otherwise despite not being at the club for over two years. I have read/heard this prick dragging our name through the mud on at least 20 seperate occassions since his (well paid) departure. During his tenure I endured one of my most miserable times as a football fan, there were a couple of good times, but they were awfully thin on the ground.

I resent being compared to an armchair United fan because the man arouses anger in me.

Much better put than I managed to do KW, you vioce my sentiments exactly and with a bit of evidence to back it up.

anybody who thinks garty didn't make it clear that the prem was our priority is extremely naive

but i doubt he actually needed to tell megson
