Megson Interview

The weekly one hour interview slot on Thursday evening 6 till 7 on BBC Radio Manchester is with Gary Megson. Heard a trailer and he pulls no punches in his view of Bolton fans.

While I don't agree with him, as he brought most of it on himself, he did make some interesting points.

Definitely worth a listen!

  • I can understand where Megson's coming from to be honest, and to be fair, he's not called a press conference to talk about Bolton. If anything, this thread only proves that it's the other way round wh

  • And Phil Neal to agree with all 4 of them.

  • Was he filling in for PG while he was off sick or something?

Cheese you are a very brave man. Stupid but very brave.

Brave.... bell end... Comme ci, comme ?a.

Before Megson arrived, we knew he had a track history of creating bad blood at nearly every club who'd had the misfortune to have him as a member of staff. With the exception of some (not all) WBA fans, he's almost universally remembered as being a poor Manager.

Given that introduction, I was wary of him from the outset, but gave him my full backing until proven otherwise. Unfortunately, he did prove otherwise and has continued to prove otherwise despite not being at the club for over two years. I have read/heard this prick dragging our name through the mud on at least 20 seperate occassions since his (well paid) departure. During his tenure I endured one of my most miserable times as a football fan, there were a couple of good times, but they were awfully thin on the ground.

I resent being compared to an armchair United fan because the man arouses anger in me.

I haven't said anything to contradict any of that, and I don't for one minute think he was ever a "good" manager for us. Just think there's some irony in a 4-page thread full of people slagging him off for talking about us.

As for me being "brave"? Don't be silly. I'm some anonymous wanker on an internet message board, just like everyone else here. Nobodies opinion here matters any more or less than anybody elses.

This man is a grade A cunt, he is where he deserves to be, RUNNING A NOWHERE CLUB IN A NOWHERE LEAGUE IN A NOWHERE CITY.

Running a bigger club than ours and quite possibly in the same league as us next season.

Nail on head, but if no one did it, there would be no point in forums.

But for the time being they are two divisions below Bolton, can't compete in the transfer market or on the pitch and get smaller crowds than Bolton.

I can understand where Megson's coming from to be honest, and to be fair, he's not called a press conference to talk about Bolton. If anything, this thread only proves that it's the other way round when it comes to "getting over it".

The people who talk about him as if he's just raped their daughter remind me of those Liverpool/Manchester United fans who've never been to a game but, when they win, stand in the pub gloating as though they scored the goals them-fucking-selves. It seems the people with the strongest opinions against Megson, are the people with the least reason to voice them. As in every aspect of life I suppose.

couldnt of said it better :db:

But for the time being they are two divisions below Bolton, can't compete on the pitch.

I wouldn't fancy our chances away in the cup.

No-o-o-o-o-o ................. where's my garlic & cross when I need them.

What a feeling... when we're dancing on the ceiling...

Best interview ever! Gotta love this crappy station.

anybody who thinks garty didn't make it clear that the prem was our priority is extremely naive

but i doubt he actually needed to tell megson

Ignorant as well as naive?

someone on here once said....

he's like a turd that won't flush...

great analogy that...

Bitter man!!

Just listened on th'Iplayer. Very glad for him that he's now with a club with "proper" fans. Gutted to hear that despite being one of the 5k who schlepped it to Munich, one of the 2.5k who dodged the Madrid police batons and then sang his praises at the end of the game, or one of the few hundred who braved Belgrade, I'm still not a "proper" fan. Still, I guess it's all my fault for being one of the dozen grey-marled spotty twats who waved a hastily scibbled bed-sheet before his first game. Or not.

Interesting that he named-checked everyone from the kit-man up at every other club (or at least the ones he mentioned - didn't hear Leicester in his list) but not here - oh until he remembered that praising the multi-million pound owner might not be a bad move in the long term.

What really fucks me off is that many on here - myself, to some extent, included - went some way to defending his lack of empathy with the fans by saying well maybe he's just not naturally good at PR. Well since his sacking he's proved very fucking ready willing and able to induge in Gary Megson related PR.

<sigh> ok, ive bitten

the bloke produced one of the most amazing turn arounds in premier league history.

he inherited the mutant cross breed of allardyces team, sammy lees tactics and a bunch of newly arrived, over paid shithouse players and he kept us up when we were utterly dead and buried. as for the uefa cup he fielded a weakened team for several rounds as he pointed out himself and the only reason people got arsey was because a) we eventually (accidently) reached a point when we could have made our mark and b ) the team never turned up the following weekend at wiggin as stated in this thread. had we been knocked out 3 rounds earlier then this thread wouldnt be here.

he also made some fantastic signings that put us in a really good position.

for that he deserves a lot of credit in my eyes.

i didnt like the bloke, he had no charisma or passion. i was pretty indifferent towards him. i don`t really care too much about him or what he does but if i was him i would be pretty miffed as to why so many people hate him when his record and achievements as manager are there for all to see.

he pretty much says they dont like me so fuck `em and for that you say how dare he say that, hes a cunt. what a load of hypocritical shite

spot on satan.... :good:

i remember being dragged to watch blackpool v hednesford in the cup when megson was in charge.in two seperate incidents during the game fans walked across the pitch from the scratching shed to give megson their shirt of their back and season ticket book respectively.

so its just not us that didnt get on with him.

so its just not us that didnt get on with him.

The owd Leicester ST holder next door to me was cock-a-hoop when he heard he'd fucked off from them.

Thing is, if he'd just made a bit of fucking effort rather staying bitter about the gaggle of bell ends greeting him on day one, it could have been different. I've mentioned it before on here but I'll do so again: when we won at Brum with a late Chungy goal it was a great atmosphere - fair away following and the players spontaneously coming over at the end for a real old school celebration. I remember looking over at Megson as the whistle went - and whoosh, he was off down the touchline to that corner tunnel they have there like a shot. No response to the crowd let alone actually coming over the bask in the glory and actually get people on his side. It was almost like he was keeping that stupid original demo in his back pocket as a get out of jail card - "ooh they all hate me". Soft fucking sod.

Suggestion

When they remake Fatal Attraction, someone should out him up for the Glenn Close role

He's a perfect candidate for a bunny boiler ?!?

What Satan said.

I'm actually surprised people listened to it

What Satan said.

Same for me, I dislike him more since he left than I did at the time, some great memories in his era for which give him credit for none.

Him and the pigs of Sheffield are well suited.

I know several people that work and play for the club and I have it first hand how Megson destroyed the morale within the club both on and off the pitch. I spoke with one friend at the time who had successfully managed one of the youth teams for several years, earning a number of honours along the way, only to be made 'redundant' within weeks of Megson arriving and was replaced by a Megson appointment. The players were universally against him from the start but the protests were muted due to the fear of being dropped or being isolated so it was inevitable that once the brand of football and subsequent results alienated the fans his days were numbered...up there with the worst ever Wanderers' managers. However he did have an eye for a decent player

True enough, but their crowds are only 3,000 less than ours.

If we're not in the Premier League next season, they'll have bigger crowds.

whoever gave that order to lose in lisbon, I want a personal apology and a refund from

I don't know whether I'm dreaming, but I seem to recall that on his appointment Megson said that Bruce Rioch had told him something to the effect of "If you ever get the opportunity to manage Bolton take it - the fans are superb". It went downhill rapidly from there....

I have read some crap on here but this takes the biscuit.........................................obviously having a bad day yesterday.
