You can have both, be positive you shit cunts !

The stats tell a different story historically teams who get to the latter stages there league form suffers, if that holds true that means todays win virtually guarantees Bolton to be relegated.

Who was the last team and year to win the cup and get relegated ?

fwiw, Id take the cup win and relegation than safety. More likely to get promoted back to the Prem than win the FA Cup.

don't think it has happened

Leicester reached the final

The Massives got relegated as reigning Champions 1937/38.

Didn't 'Boro get to both finals, lost both and were relegated? In which case they must have been down on FA cup final day? Don't remember that - I remember the match, Di Matteo scored straight away iirc.

Four teams have reached the final, but lost, and been relegated:

1926 Man City (lost to Bolton)

1969 Leicester (lost to Man City)

1983 Brighton (lost to ManU)

1997 Middlesbrough (lost to Chelsea)

In addition Chelsea finished 19th of 20 in 1915 and lost in final to SheffU, but league was extended to 22 on restarting after WWI and so they were not relegated.

It's 54 years since we won the FA Cup ...... more than a lifetime for some unlucky fans.

You've seen us in the Prem for the last 11 seasons.

It's your choice (theoretically). I was at the '58 final, so I'm a fraction less bothered.

I want both.

Glory hunter!

De Freitas 3 4 Reading. Wembley is the bollocks

Thanks chaps .

So all O.C. has to do to keep us up is win the cup.

Works for me !

You win the cup once in a lifetime. You can always get promoted again.

I'm in.

Lose in the next round and get relegated anyway

Was just gonna say the same thing! We will have to take what comes! Winning the cup and staying up would be a dream but losing and going down is probably more of a possibility.

ps Leicester away will do for me

I am proper in the shit for this next round if it's a Sarurday away game. It's my oldest, closest friend's 40th on 17 March.

Moral dilemma.

Leicester at home, Stoke in the semis. We're going down anyway.

Don't want Sunderland in cup draw, would rather go to either merseyside clubs as I think we would/ could get a result at either. Am I deluded? Ohh and stay up for me

Who do you fancy in the final? :)

With our debt if we go down, I doubt Bolton will see many good times for a long while.

Depends how you describe good times. Over the years, some of my best experiences have been out of the Premier. I've never seen them win a cup and for me that's what football is all about. I still think we can do both with a bit of luck. I'd settle for a cup win and take our chances in the Championship.

Brighton at home for us ive heard.

Bolton in the semi's would be great, as tickets would be easier to come by for us.

Sunderland in the final

I think we will get Crawley in the next round then we will play the winners of Leicester / Stevenage in the semis.
