Don't see why not, motorway driving is safer than on fast country roads. I don't know the figures but there must be miles more people killed per mile of A road than Motorway, plus is it not safer they get taught to drive there rather than at 30MPH in a town and then let loose at 70 on their own on a motorway?

its bad enough having them on the roads the best of time, fuckin winds me up when they are driving in rush hour making matters worse

I'd sooner have them panic at 30 mph than the carnage they'd cause at 70 whilst veering over 3 lanes and back.....

 

Test track maybe but not whilst learning, there are some folks who fail their test for a reason! I know some folks who refuse to drive on a motorway even now, though they've been driving for years. Sorry girls but they're all women. One won't drive when it's raining so if she goes shopping and it starts raining she waits until it stops. If it doesn't stop - she rings a mate to come and fetch her and her car!

 

It makes me shudder the damage she could cause if she was still learning, but on a motorway.

I think it's better to have a driving instructor in the car with they with the dual pedal control than get chucked in at the deep end, a lot of people who pass there test must be petrified 1st time.

I did the pass plus when I passed, that helped with motorway and country road driving, recommend that to any new driver.

I passed my test at 17 years and 2 months and was like Colin McRae for at least 10 years, it's a miracle i'm still here

I did the pass plus when I passed, that helped with motorway and country road driving, recommend that to any new driver.

 

There should be a compulsory version of this after passing your test, rather than motorway driving whilst still learning.

Nah I'm only playing devil's advocate. I only passed 5 years ago as working in London there was no need until the kids came along. I just remember what it's like for leaner drivers and I almost killed myself on a motorway at 30 having only just passed my test. It is easier driving on motorways but it's the other folk you need to be wary of, and you can't learn that on B roads.

I passed my test with the driving school at work. Two weeks of monday to friday. I passed on the second thursday and then went doing motorway driving that afternoon and all day friday.

You'd be surprised at how far you can go when the plates front and rear say you're a fire service driver under advanced tuition. Speed limits did not apply.

Lets face it its not gonna be there first lesson is it.

Absofuckinglutely. We should all have 5 yearly refresher courses to ensure our skill-level is still appropriate to the vehicle we're driving. It pisses me off that young lads get their licence and think they're Lewis Hamilton the first time out on their own.

To generalise, women drivers are a bit crap though. I drive like a bloke by the way.
