Following on from something I posted in t' footballing bit of this site, are there any things in your list of things you really regret that you'd be happy to share?

 

My regret is only ever doing one Euro away with my family. I went to Madrid but really ought to have done a few others.

 

It also slipped my mind to tell my wife, on our wedding day, that she looked stunning*. Don't get me wrong, she did scrub up ok but I forgot to tell her. She still reminds me every now and again.

 

*Note to future grooms, make sure you tell her.

I regret choosing alcohol over my wife

 

but my biggest regret in life is saying I wouldn't go to see my mate Andy when he called me pissed at 9.30pm on a Saturday night while I was sober and home with my then fiancee, even though he virtually pleaded. He killed himself 2 hours later. I'll never forgive myself and it finished my relationship with fiancee too

 

 

There's one thing I've learnt in my god knows how many years, is we all learn by our mistakes, and it's what you do wIth the lesson you learned that matters.

 

 

I'm sure there are things we would all love to change if we had the chance.

I wasn't there when my dad died, but I make sure every day I can, that my kids n grandkids know I love them, and I'm there for them

My dad lost that chance, with his own mistakes, but I've learnt from his mistakes and that's the best we can wish for

Got there and a nurse told us that nothing would be happening for a good few hours yet and I was to go home and get some things together for her. I argued that I wanted to stay but was told that it wasn't going to happen.

 

Against my better judgement, I drove home very carefully, wandered round the house packing dressing gowns, knickers, etc., made myself a black coffee. . . the phone rang, it was hospital saying the birth is imminent.

 

I drove like a twat back to hospital; it was only 4am so no traffic.

 

Got there safely and there was a nurse waiting for me and she turned round and ran to the delivery suite.

 

 

nearly had the same myself. Mrs Swanny had been in labour for 32 hours and she told me to go home and get something to eat, Midwife backed this with " it will be a while yet", the contractions were stable and was looking at being a good few hours..

 

drove home ( I lived on flower estate about 5 mins drive), had something to eat/let dogs and got a phone call saying she was 8cm, Rushed back and got into the ward just as she was about to start the big push.

My sister and aunty nursed me mum at home in her last few days. Didn't leave her bedside for about 72hrs.

doctor came so I left the room for about 2 mins and in that time she took a deep breath and that was it. Couldn't get me head round it for a few years that wen she died I was in the kitchen about 3/4 seconds away but wasn't actually there

 

Ohh and once sleeping with 4 birds but only shagging one who was fit as fuk. Nailed her a few times but 25 years on think I should have give them all some fun / love / jiz

Its better to reget something that you have done than something that you haven't done is my general rule of thumb. But I've recently turned down a shiload of money to move to a rival in my (very specialised) industry. I'm staying with my small but progressive comapany, the Boss is cool and I can sleep at night. Am I a dick? discuss!

Cheating on a ex girlfriend when I was 21, she never found out because I was a coward and didn't have the guts to tell her. I ruined everything.

when i was 16 the girl who adored from a far whilst at school saw me on a night out, she got talking to me and told me she had always liked me as well, i saw my mate with a tray of shots left the girl and threw back about 5 shots. regretted that, until i met up with her 2 years ago and I'm still with her. I Shall complete my pro licence this year then go back to Uni and get my masters degree, rather than go and regret it in 20 years time

Turned down a campervan trip to Italia '90 in favour of seeing family in Australia.

 

It STILL gets under my skin listening to tales of Italian women and David Platt tributes.

 

Its a shame that so many people have got such negative thoughts about not saying goodbye to people before they died.

 

For someone to be special in your life they had the pleasure of knowing you, and you must have shared many of lifes experiences together to form this bond. Its a shame so much focus is put on the end and saying goodbye, as the saying goes 'Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened'

Not forcing my dad through private hospital rather than leaving him to the fucked-up, over-stretched NHS. Convinced he still be here given the right treatment some 3 months before the NHS finally tried.... unsuccessfully as well. Cunts.
