Fairly certain no one is arsed, but we're still buzzing so I'm telling you all anyway.  We got incredibly lucky, thankfully! Weather was spot on and it properly set the tone for a perfect day, co

Did occur to me did that.

I suppose a temporary shrinkage would be worth it for a genuine bit of cooling.

I reckon so, yes

Viv Richard’s and Clive Lloyd the batsmen?

Deny climate change if you like, but it’s just a fact. A measurable, unambiguous set of data that proves it beyond any doubt.

But here’s a thing

We started to change our habits back in the 80’s when the ozone layer was damaged. Since then, we’ve shifted away from fossil fuels, damaging refrigerants and various other large scale emissions that were causing harm.

And still the temperature is rising.

So it could actually be much worse. The efforts being made have definitely slowed the rate at which climate change was happening, but it’s not stopped or reversed it.

But, you know, spitfires and swimming in the canal means it isn’t happening because in your myopic little bubble it’s just warmer than normal.

Has anyone on here actually denied there is a problem? When you say we changed our habits, that’s true. The problem is that some countries haven’t. In fact they have increased their usage of fossil fuels and you know who I’m talking about. We went through this with the Tony Blair comments. It doesn’t matter one iota what WE do. If we failed to exist as a nation, it wouldn’t change a thing.

That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do anything. Again we are doing too much too fast.

Be interested to know your thoughts on this. Can’t find the Labour report but I’ll look later.

I’ve just spent the week at a conference which was predominantly heat pump focussed.

As with electric cars, the direction of travel is fixed so whilst bills will fluctuate - sometimes they’ll be higher sometimes lower - the move towards renewable energy isn’t going to change. Of course, reform are promising to dig us back to the Stone Age but they’ll be a bump in the road if you’re looking long term, as you must with this type of wholesale change of approach to the way we live.

Also

Heat pumps aren’t perfect for everyone.

I’ve said this a thousand times but it bears repeating - Britain can exist with a balance of renewables and fossil based energy. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

But in 30 years from now it’s likely that over 50% of British housing stock will have no gas at all

Not sure why you keep mentioning Reform. I’d say the political will to continue to invest in renewables will be decided in the next few weeks/months with a new man at the helm. Remember, Burnham was a Blairite and as has been previously discussed he, Blair, thinks we are going in the wrong direction. It’s a huge pot of money that Miliband has control of that I think will be to tempting considering the other problems we face. Time will tell. 👍

It took us about 100 years to build a canal network. Can you imagine that being proposed today? Short-sighted fuckwits abound.

Spider has turned into a full on fruitcake.

No one has denied it - all anyone is questioning is the extremism of an unachievable Net Zero date and a self imposed cost which is unnecessarily way too high.

Seems logical to me that if we reintroduce the use of our own fossil fuels, somewhere along the line it will mean that an equal reduction in production will be realised elsewhere. 'Net Zero' difference if you like to use buzz words. Lowering of energy prices and good employment the bonuses.

It won't be long before he's dyeing his hair fluoro green (improvement?), gluing himself to cobbles and voting for Count Binface when he actually intended voting Green.

Sit this one out you absolute mental patient.

Tell you what, when it gets a “bit chilly” this winter, how about we just tell pensioners to put a jumper on rather than giving them winter fuel payments?

We coped in the olden days or summert 😊

Burnham isn’t even prime minister yet and is being hounded out.

Who’s hounding him out? 🤷‍♂️ He said he’s going to change things. I hope he changes the time line of the net zero policy. ie push it back. Free up money for other more important things like defence and the NHS. Has anyone on here given you the impression that he’s being ‘hounded out’?

I forget that you aren’t on twitter.

Good for you, like, but millions do use it and Musk seems determined to make sure the Burnham Out campaign gets off to a strong start.

I am on X. Ive posted many things off there. I don’t see what you see though but I guess you don’t see the guys (and women) who claim they are Elvis. The people who think the world is flat and can prove it. The people who were taken by aliens and are now convinced that Cheese is the Messiah.

I think you get X and WW mixed up some times and can’t remember who you are responding to. 😊😉👍

Not really. X unfortunately is popular (I think I’m safe in saying it has more users than WW) so you see all sorts. Predominantly, I see Burnham being lauded as the devil who will turn Britain into a fiery hell.

I could post examples but there’s really no need and I’m about to tuck into my dinner

You need to manage your algorithmic crawling type of stuff. 🤷‍♂️

You don't need to post examples. We all have access and we manage what we see.

Anyway, DINNER!

That’s it, you are on ignore.

X is the worst of the lot because Musk actively pushes certain agendas but they all put you into an echo chamber on purpose to keep you involved in their platform. Some do it just for content and engagement, like Spotify will play you similar music to that you mostly listen to for example. But others will drag you into a flat earth, Elvis is alive on Mars wormhole where Cheese is Brian if you keep watching such nonsense 😉

Anyway The Express and I assume others are already posting how the world is going to fall apart when Burnham gets in and I only know that because FB doesn't seem to care that I keep closing their ads and asking not to see anything from such a rag.

Just clocked the time. Technically it’s my lunch but my walkies lasted longer than planned so you’re right, it’s teatime 😁

I’m not that bad. Yet.

I have no prejudice against old folks. Just cunts.

That’s right. Cunt is the noun describing a thing, and subsequent additions are the adjectives giving further clarity. Words like old or black or silly.

That’s how I like to describe cunts.

It’s not a word I use anyway.

My advice with X is just stick to the ‘following’ column at the top and ignore the ‘for you’. On the search function you get the trends but that’s up to the user to go wherever it takes them.

I do wonder when people on here say that people on X are saying…….. There are millions of users! How many accounts do people look at to come to these conclusions. Like all social media, it’s up to the user to control their content, not Elon Musk however he may try. We are all over 16.

Ps. I don’t read the Express and I’m not on Facebook.😊👍

We had dinner ladies at school

They gave you food around midday so that's dinner time

Southerners seem to think dinner is now tea despite them having dinner ladies at school

It should be enshrined in law that it's tea

I only do the following (or did, I haven't been on for quite a while) but once the content on your following list is too old they put other stuff in there anyway so you aren't controlling your content like you think you are.

I don't think many people do actually really the Express, it is utterly ridiculous. It's a shame once proper papers like the Telegraph are also close to being as bonkers.

Revisit the numbers, and in particular CO² emissions.

There is a good reason warming is continuing.
