Kevin Davies has signed a new one-year contract until the summer of 2013 and Sam Ricketts has signed a new two-year deal until the summer of 2014. Discussions regarding new contracts with Jussi Jaaskelainen and Zat Knight are on-going. Gretar Steinsson, Paul Robinson, Sean Davis, Robbie Blake, Ricardo Gardner, Ivan Klasnic, Mark Connolly, Tope Obadeyi, Rhys Bennett, Dino Fazlic and Tom Eckersley have all left the football club after their contracts expired. Tuncay, Dedryck Boyata and Ryo Miyaichi have all returned to their respective parent clubs following the completion of their loans spells. Nigel Reo-Coker has decided to activate a release clause in his contract. Manager Owen Coyle said: "I was clear with Nigel. I asked him straight away whether he wanted to stay and be a part of what we are going to do next season. "He was honest and up front with us, because that is the type of man he is, and said that he wanted to exercise the clause in his contract, and so we wish him well. "I would also like to thank the players that are leaving the club for their work at Bolton Wanderers. We wish them all well. "One of those is Ricardo Gardner, who has been with the football club for 14 years. He has offered incredible service to Bolton Wanderers and I'd like to personally thank him for all of his efforts, particularly during the time I have worked with him."

He had a clause in his contract which automatically extended it for a further 12 months if he played a certain number of games. As he played practically every game last year the clause was met comfortably so whether he likes it or not he is under contract until summer 2013

According to a chat with Wheater that my mate had, he seems to think its more like 6 months.....the point still stands though that Zat (as bad as he is) would still be a useful back up in the championship. May 18, 201214 yr we'll be reet with what weve got, a new left back perhaps. Ricketts will play Centre back I predict. I wouldn't put to many hopes on a strong squad in cup comps though.

I'd put a corpse in at Cb rather than have that inept, incompetent prick pull on a white shirt again. Being short on cover at Cb now doesn't mean we will be come Aug. Smacks of desperation if you ask me. Let him go, then see the other teams clamouring for his signature........ Think that will show how good he is.
May 18, 201214 yr All the best Ricardo Gardner, would prefer steinson at centre half to Knight, signing KD sends out a message of continuity and support of Owen Coyle although I hope we don't need to use him so much next season and younger more mobile players are utilised.
