Although it's the right choice, I'm gutted Ricky G's gone. Absolute hero.

Whilst I agree that 14 years is a long time to be at a club, let's not pretend he's done it because of his love for the job.

Footballers stay at wherever is paying their inflated wages. If someone had stepped in with offers of pots more dosh he'd have been off like a rocket.

How come he turned down more money at West Ham last summer?

You're asking me that because I'd know or care? I don't for either.

You'd need to speak to him or his agent about it.

Although, all that said, I'd guess at him being comfortable at Bolton; senior pro and all that; and didn't want to lose such seniority amongst the playing and coaching staff by joining a new club. I'd also guess he couldn't be arsed moving to that there London to be nearer the club. I'd also guess his family said fuck off to a move.

But if you know for sure, share with the class.

Did ricky ever get a testimonial????

I would have kept steinson, would be ok in the champ

No. Jussi didn't, The club were probably waiting for Ricky to be fit enough to play in his own testamonial game. They're bored waiting now.

Jussi had a testimonial against some jock pub players didnt he?

Aye Hibs.

now all of a sudden you know very little

I think you may well know what I know to say this. Yes, he could've been off like a rocket, no he didn't though.

Take a look through the first 4 or 5 pages. They've been busy cyber-wishlisting many of our players. M Davies, Klasnic, Holden, CYL . . .

stoke will be relegated next season along those pie munching idiots

Thanks for everything Bibi. Top player and a Top, top man.

Chuffed SKD and Ricketts are staying.

Gutted Klasnic is going. Slightly sad to see Steinson go, but were ok there.

Would have liked us to have kept Robinson for another year.

Glad to see the back of the rest.

Lets get Petrov and Knight signed.

Would love us to keep Jussi, but really cant see it.

Get everyone fit and we should have a good chance

Wouldnt be suprised to see us sign a few players aswell

Did you actually see any of the last two games

They should be hanging the two never mind signing them

No - this isn't the 1970s. Players don't need testimonials unless ALL the money is going to charity. He'll have a small fortune stashed away.

So because he plays in an industry where the rewards are good his loyalty should just be ignored cos he's got a few quid?

Le Tissier never bolted elsewhere

Shearer choose to go to his home club, I'm sure he could've got more at a different club

There are exceptions to the rules

As would most normal folk.

I have to disagree with what you are saying, just because he gets paid well doesnt mean that he doesnt love his job or his club.

Ricky G has been at the club for 14 years man and boy, he has spent half of his life living in the area. You make it sound like he has fucking hated it and has only stayed for the money.

I for one would like to see him appear at the Reebok one last time in a pre season friendly / testomonial with money going to the Chest hospital in London or something like that.

You make it sound like he has fucking hated it and has only stayed for the the money

I don't think he makes it sound like that at all. It is a fact that had Man Utd come in for him and offered ?50K per week he would have been off like a shot, he probably isn't any different to any other human in that respect

i'm too old for hero footballers, but ricardo is as close as it gets

he's just a likeable lad

looks like he appreciates everything that has come his way

and he was as good a left back as there was in the league for 18 months

i'd pay to watch his testimonial - can't say more than that for a modern day millionaire footballer
