Uncle Albert
To be spent on a new bus/train station. http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/9923753.__48_million_interchange_plans_move_a_step_closer/ Of all the things Bolton town centre needs, I'd say a new bus station would near the bottom of the list. Forty-eight-million. Madness.
stevieb
Won't touch the sides. The recent 8, 6, 4, 2 mil spent on the train station was shit!
no balls
How long since that "interchange" was done? Anyhow, seeing as no one wants to spend time in the centre of town the council are making it nice for the townsfolk to get out easily. Well done Bolton Council. Juan.Kerr
A nice clean, safe environment for dossing, pissing, pimping, skinning, smoking, bag snatching, pick pocketing, as well as general student behaviour. Worth every penny.
frank_spencer
Not much to do with the council. The bus station on moor lane is owned and operated by tfgm (formerly gmpte) they wanted to improve facilities and decided the best way to do it would be building a new bus station near to the train station. The current plans are scaled back from what was originally proposed, they wanted to take pretty much all the land within the confines of trinity street, bradshawgate, great moor street and Newport st. The original idea was for a complete overhaul of the station as well rather than the unnoticeable stuff the train bods have actually done. But I don't think they could get the money needed for their grand plan from northern rail or network rail.
Traf
If I was a betting man, I'd wager it'll end up looking fuck all like that model.
Youri McAnespie
What's the reason for that end of Bradshawgate (from the Irwell Valley Building/Balmoral down) towards Trinity Street) looking like downtown Kabul? Has there been a compulsory purchase of those premises? I always thought The Leena for example, despite being shite, did quite well..
