Being Over The Limit In The Morning....

Worries me the most....(well not today as I didn't drink last night)

Theres a rozzer over the road from me now, pulling every car over and breathalysing them.

Scares me to death, that even though you feel spot on,you could still be over.

When I think back to when I was out every weekend,I'd roll in a 2-3am then jump in the works van at half 6 and drive across the North West quite clearly still over...Not good, not good at all.

Whats everyones rule of thumb?

Say you have 8 pints of 4% lager, get in bed for 12,then up for 6am...still over we reckon??

Fuck knows.

Guy over the road has just made an arrest!...young lad in ford Ka sporty thing...'You stay in bed love,I'll go get us a Maccy's breakfast'!!

Woops.

I walk to work and still stunk of ale about 11am.

Old Peculiar is bad.

This thread made sure I drove back today a lot later. I will be balloon shopping tomorrow though now.

Got to the wedding in 1 piece, gum shield in!

I always carry a full balloon of non alcoholic breath in my glove box. Any potential trouble can be avoided as I pop the balloon in my mouth soon as I get pulled and slowly release the untainted breath into the mouth piece.

Can the balloon be used to fix a telly ?

Balloons can fix owt! They also double up as freezer bags for shit, if they are the right shape.

Been caught twice on the A 590, i was driving to slow was the excuse, fuck me, i was heading to the Reebok for the Bolton v Villa game, got dragged back to the police station and i passed, missed the game. Second time, just got pulled over for nowt, and got by with the tester.

I dont think I'll be safe to drive till the end of March.

Suck a 2p coin

I went out for a tea timer the other week - nowt daft only a six pinter, and i had my last drink about 10pm.

The day after i saw a mate of mine around 1pm, and he said my breath stunk of ale.

Scary because i'd already drove the car at 11 am.

It's a lottery, just drove back from Bolton this afternoon and clocked 5 police cars hanging about the Athy / Bongs area. Had a good few yesterday but not enough to warrant my mam saying you stink of ale, which she normally does when i have had a skinfull the day before.

The not so random stop and breathalyse pit lanes are back out in force round here.

Cheeky monkeys have a trap near McDonald's in fleetwood basically designed to snare hungover youths going for Maccies.

Friday there was one ont thA6 at the roundabout with a slip road on it before Shaw Hill. They were pulling plenty over. I got a wink and a wave off the pig instead of being pulled. He got a glare

Oink oink

I find drive driving abohrant but I find morning policing like this wrong too.

Suppose they've got figures to hit and budgets to inflate otherwise they might have to spend more time catching theives and rapists.

There was a patrol car parked on the hotel car park monday morning when we came out after the Xmas do last week.

Lot of people seemed to be hanging round and in no hurry to leave.

What would happen if you asked them if you could check if you were OK to drive before actually driving?

I'm sure they'd say no and prefer you to risk it.

Money making scheme rather than looking to make the roads safer.

I've yet to be convinced that the morning after pulling is anything other than this

They would probably say if you need to ask the question then don't drive

They would have a point

P.s I myself am bad for driving the day after a boozy night

got pulled in only once. it was after the ashes match at old trafford in 2005,had a skinful but mixed with various ''chemicals''.

the filth made me blow into the bag,but i was a tad under. they made me do another but i was still a tad under.   Is it right for them to make you do it twice ?

anyway,my joy was shortlived as one of the filth searched my car whilst i was blowing into the bag and found some CG gas(no idea how that got there).  Received a 6  month suspended,200 hours CS and probation for that, been a good boy ever since

used to be of the same opinion, especially when they were parked at the entrance to the yard on a Saturday morning and I lost a few staff due to losing their licences,  however, the stats back them up and the official line is the uplift in number of morning tests is a direct result of the relaxation of licencing laws to 24hr availability and they'd be failing in their duty not no be testing, after all, if you're over , you're over so driving is affected evn if it is "just a hang over"

interesting, if a little hard going, reading and stats on the links

I'm not renowned for defending the filth, but...

...if they stop you at 8am, for all they know you could have not stopped drinking until 6 with the licensing laws being as they are.

If you're over, you're over.

Not a problem with that at all, anyone piling out of the Swan at 4am and think they can drive to work a few hours later thinking a couple of house kip, a brew, and a few cigs sobers you up is clearly a bit thick. You can triple the number of coppers out during the night looking for drink drivers for me, not a problem.

I'm talking about Joe Public being a few points over at 8am. It could be so easy. 2 or 3 glasses of wine with an evening meal, a good 6-7 hours kip and you could still be over but totally unwittingly.

The punishment for this simply does not fit the crime. Losing your license, livelihhod, job, insurance...there's a huge difference between willful neglect and simple mistake yet both get whacked with the same penalty.  6 month ban, 2 year ban, makes no real  difference. Lose your job and you don't put food on the table.

I'd like to see how many injuries and deaths are caused by these type of people and then compare it to the efforts made to catch them. I'd bet my arse its about 10% the comparative effort that goes into catching thieves and junkies and that its nowt to do with making the roads safer - its about easy targets and easy budgets.

Smiffs,

You do, of course, make a very valid point, but where do they draw the line?

Say for instance, me and thee went for a drink after the game.

I had 3 pints with you, felt fine and got in the car.

You being the filthy drunken reprobate that you are, stayed in the boozer until 1am and got shitfaced.

I get stopped at the Beehive roundabout and blow a reading of 40 ie 5 above the limit and get (quite rightly) nicked.

You get up at 8am after a good kip and set off for town. You also get stopped at the beehive and blow 40.

Should you not be nicked?

Or is it the actual targeting of morning-after drinkers you're not happy with?

They would probably say if you need to ask the question then don't drive

They would have a point

I was thinking that but you can feel fine the morning after, and if they are outside your hotel you may as well ask the question.

But I think they would be cunts about it.

I'd never ask the question, but they should be approachable, shouldn't they?

You make a good comparison and I can't argue with it. I think it's the latter.

I really do doubt the efforts made on morning after drinking doesn't meet the reward; are our roads deadly at 8am due to those who had a few last night?

I'm just not convinced so naturally smell another agenda.

But I am a bit of a cunt like that :p
