For a 0-0 it was a decent game. The 2 sets of fans made it even better. Fair play to palace, they sold out there areas except for the section next us. We had a 1000 there. Brilliant for a London match. Considering that's the kind of number we'd take to hull or Everton.

 

It got tasty just before half time. Eagles diving and then getting a few rough challenges. Few 50/50s and we stood up to them.

 

Zaha annonymous. Bolasie did the poncey tricks but was well restrained.

 

We were very direct today. And palace allowed us to be. They clearly allowed Davies to get to the ball first with no one around him. But more often than not his lay off was off the mark. Particularly off his feet.

 

Eagles wanted to get involved but when he did his passing was way off. Must have given it away 5 or 6 times. And he was 'very inside' - when there rb had it he literally had to leg it to them because he was so far inside.

 

Ream - best game in the shirt for me

 

Alonso - mom. Kept there wingers quiet, and showed a willingness to get forward when needed. And had little protection.

 

Mears - best game in the shirt for me. Didn't notice him which is better than usual.

 

Midfield - did ok

 

Df - played for the draw. Set up for it. Fans craved for us to bag the winner but would have been too risky. Especially as it would mean going 442.

 

Palace - whoever says they are attacking is talking shite. Holloway has em set up with 11 behind the ball, and the hope zaha or bolasie might do something spectacular. Which might be effective but not the brilliance I expected

 

Think Alonso is a quality player I watched him hold our back 4 together single handedly playing as a sweeper at Crewe pre season think I mentioned it after that game how good he was, looks like he's confident and DF has confidence in him hope we keep him long enough to see him develop into a top player.

Few in our coach. Spent the whole journey going on about how Burnley have a superb mob and they'd run Bolton all over given the opportunity. Fell asleep after that, boring cnuts.

Good assessment IMO- would add that Spearing had a shocker in terms of his passing and Andrews was not much better - Pratley had a very good game. Over all we battled well throughout the team but created little clear cut chances. We were the best team without a doubt. SKD as a lone striker doesn't work though

As others have said, Alonso had a decent game and is looking better each match he plays. Mears kept Zaha quiet which surprised me. At half time I was convinced we wouldn't finish the game with 11 men as the ref had a shocker. Not too sure playing both Andrews and Spearing has much affect. Would like to see Vela given a proper go soon. Or maybe Holden! Definitely set out for a point with 4-5-1 and I'm happy with that.
