magic legs Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Other half on the verge of blowing £2.5k on a new PC. Looking at the t&cs Dell are giving it the one year warranty bollocks, but I'm sure that EU rules and Sale of Goods Act makes it reasonable that something so expensive should last a lot longer than 1yr. Has anyone taken on a store/manufacturer like this and won? Quote
dave2980 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 £2.5K!! For that I'd want it to download the porn and wank me off at the same time!! Quote
Carlos Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 £2.5K is the most I've ever heard of anyone spending on a PC, ever. I've very rarely heard of people spending over £1000. I can't even imagine how you could get it up to that price unless you had a massive SSD, i7 processor and some fucking giant water cooled graphics card. You'd probably have more processing power than a small country, and I'm not joking, you are in super computer territory. Quote
barryk32 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Other half on the verge of blowing £2.5k on a new PC. Stop her immediately. I bet the sales folk are wanking each other off in the back office. Quote
no balls Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 TWO AND A HALF GRAND? Does she need to do work for NASA on it? Quote
Traf Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 In a year it'll be outdated and worth about £700. Buy a decent one for around £600 and keep replacing it. Quote
barryk32 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 TWO AND A HALF GRAND? Does she need to do work for NASA on it? There will be pc's at NASA worth less than that. In fact I'd bet there are computers onboard space shuttles worth less than that. Quote
freds dad Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) She could get a top of the range iMac for that sort of money and become a wanker. Edited January 23, 2013 by freds dad Quote
dave2980 Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I nearly paid £1300 for one at the weekend because I've managed to brake my desktop and wanted a new one with a bluray player. I saw sense in the end and decided to just use my laptop more instead Quote
magic legs Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 It's a quote from Dell so its not like she's gone into PC World. It's a six core processor and its for rendering interior / exterior images from architect drawings. Quote
olispence Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 It could be used to protect from the pesky rain but it wouldn't be advisable. Got to custom MacBook Pro for Christmas and Its brilliant.. Can pick them up for £1500 16gb ram 1 tb HDD More than enough! Quote
no balls Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I'm in the Macbook Pro gang too. Oli's reet. Quote
Gonk Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 If you really think that you are comparing two equivalent beasts then you are as daft as him. Quote
HomerJay Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 (edited) £2.5k Fuck me In terms or warranty, at that kinda money I'd expect dell to throw in the proper 3 year onsite warranty Ring em and haggle. Or look on dell outlet. Thats where I my Alienware laptop for nearly half price. Basically new tech, usually returns without the box and manual Oh and with tech you'll always struggle to prove you didn't break it if it did break. As I found out with Samsung. So the warranty won't mean shit anyway. And finally macs are for steers and queers Edited January 24, 2013 by HomerJay Quote
