Happens at cricket, Rugby x2, basketball . . . in fact, it seems only football has a phobia against booze in view of play. Maybe we owe our pariah status to the overreaction of the media and the Govt.

They allow it at rugby games.

 

They also allow rival rugby fans to sit together.

People like rugby and cricket, where as people love football and feel a part of their team (even Chinese dmbs?) I think they will always use this as a negative with such matters. Plus catering for the football fan has not been a popular trait of the governments for a long time!

I've had this argument many a time with rugger fans. They're of the opinion that all footbal fans are thugs. I say, that whilst it's no defence for the violence we sometimes see, it's because us footie fans really do care and it's a big part of our life and we're simply more passionate.

 

Obviously they disagree.

You're spot on mate. A lot of people into football support there towns and that sense of belonging, defending your towns kick in. How many rugger clubs are there ? Not enough for each town I'd say. If your a Wigan warriors fan from Bolton, you don't care about Wigan the place. Plus the amount of people that watch footy is huge compared to rugger so percentages and all that suggest more will go on at footy.

I go to both codes of football & agree with you.

If a bottle of fosters int seats at huddersfield counts, then it's already been done.

If getting 8 bottles into Red Star counts its also been done.

Fosters doesn't count as boozing

if jumping the fence at macclesfield to nip to the offy for 8 cans at half time counts, that got done by a lot of people!

can you imagine nobhead corner, last week against Burnley, where all the fans, home and away, all had pints?

Back to topic. There is no reason whatsoever we cannot drink at football.

 

All it needs is a ban on cat a games which plod deem high risk. Easy.

I know it wont happen but I dont see any reason it would necessarily result in problems at Football. You can drink before the match and at half time, what real difference would it make if you were able to take a drink to your seat. So long as it doesnt apply to the whole ground it gives the fans a choice of where they want to be.

Mindset is the same yes. The loving your town thing is just the same.

 

You will always get some village idiot from featherstone championing biblical type hatred of folk from castleford. Folk walking round Leyth in wiggin shirts are abused in the street just like dmbs would in Bolton. Walk down king street wiggin on a Saturday night in a saints shirt...

 

Reporting isn't as sensational but then again some papers don't even print the fucking results.

 

It's nowhere near as frequent as football nor the same level of potential, but then again there more than half a million people a week watch football compared to maybe 100000 in RL.

 

All told though there is no difference between a gang of lads at rugby supping ale than there is at football. Some Leigh fans threw ale/bottles at fev a few weeks back, and we had maybe only 300 fans there.
