February 15, 201313 yr I've been to a couple of games between Leigh Miners and Wigan St Pats RL Now THAT'S hatin' Queens RL from Leeds are back in the Challenge Cup this season after a three year ban from when they played Donny at the Keepmoat and the game ended up getting abandoned because their fans ended up scrapping on the pitch. Sure they had a Yorkshire Cup game abandoned once because it started kicking off so a bloke went in to the back of his car and got a rifle out or summat daft like that. Anyroad, on the original topic, as another who watches RL I see no issue in boozing while the game goes on as there's bugger all difference to doing it on the concourse. However, there's plenty of beer chucking that goes on and I can only imagine the extent of that in the corner under the screen. Like others, I don't see a problem for any of the "quieter" games, though it was interesting to read in the article of Bristol City being cited as one of those games!
February 15, 201313 yr There are some rugby pitches next to where I play cricket in Haydock. Every now and again there's a game on there and there can be hundreds of folk stood round the side of the pitch watching it. Hearing some of the stuff being shouted amongst them all, both between them and at the players on the pitch, is like nowt I've ever heard at football ... and those are usually just the women. #properrough
February 15, 201313 yr Back in't 70s I stood in the Manny Rd and used to buy a Bulls Eye Brown and teck it back on't terrace.
February 15, 201313 yr Really? That's fucking mad, they put it all to one side. Well done Leigh white by the way! If I remember, Maggie tait was on that coach too along with nb's favourite power smooker. It was a trip that will be remembered for two leythers who were well in theor 30's having a full on fight under the stand watched by the rest of the lads off the coach. Stewards came over and were told it was a domestic issue and to fuck off back to whetever they came. Proper Wild West fist fight it was. It spilled into the toilets at which point a time out was called because there were "too many sharp objects and we cant all get in to watch". They stopped, walked back into the concourse and resumed knocking fuck out of each other. Very orderly.
February 15, 201313 yr Have the casuals not hit rugby yet? I think Tomski may have been referring to the 'dipped in glue and kicked through Sport Direct' look sported by the lads in the 'proppa nowty' Rugby photos. Edited February 15, 201313 yr by Youri McAnespie
February 15, 201313 yr If the argument is about fans getting pisseder in the ground them they should stop selling it full stop because it already happens. #eslsocialclub He's not wrong. I'm not proud, but I've got myself in some shocking states inside the ground.
February 15, 201313 yr Who else is in the supping ice cold lager, basking in glorious sunshine in the seats watching Bolton-Olimpiakos club? The one time I've actually enjoyed the piss they serve up... I'm sure I'm not alone in taking a few sly miniatures (hello sailor!) or quarter bottle in the pocket on other occasions either.
February 15, 201313 yr He's not wrong. I'm not proud, but I've got myself in some shocking states inside the ground. I got tugged by the police for drinking underage in the ground when I was 16. Im not a grass so I wont mention it was Smiffs that bought it for me. On the topic in hand,I'd rather not have a pint in the stands if I'm honest, it may get spilt with all the jumping up and down and such like.
February 15, 201313 yr It will never happen in the lifetime of anyone over 20. And neither should it because if allowed it would mean football has lost just about the only thing it still retains. Edited February 15, 201313 yr by captainmed

February 16, 201313 yr It will never happen in the lifetime of anyone over 20. And neither should it because if allowed it would mean football has lost just about the only thing it still retains. Which is? In Berlin at the moment and off to watch a game tomorrow - standing with booze available ....
February 16, 201313 yr dick emery in nthe background doing his ''naughty but nice'' impression ? Do you mean "ooooo you are awful, but I like you"?
February 16, 201313 yr Which is? In Berlin at the moment and off to watch a game tomorrow - standing with booze available .... Union? If so, I went and it was a cracking do - standing with beer, bloke with back pack of beer serving so you dont even have to go queue - ace atmosphere for 90 minutes, non stop singing which weren't bad given they lost 4-0
February 16, 201313 yr Union were singing most of the game when I was there for a friendly in the summer with Hibs. Missed the first 10 minutes because of queues at the gates(!)
February 16, 201313 yr Germany 2006 I was served a pint of lager at my seat, draught. I think it's all down to letting the paying customer enjoy their day without the authorities being overbearing. Treat people like people and let the druggiethuggies do their stuff away from the ground, easy really.
