  • I know you're a bit numb but you do understand how these things work don't you?   If you think 'we' are taking out our frustrations out on teachers and teachers only you need to give your head a wob

Fking public sector, dont live in the real world half of them

Thatcher wouldn't allow it

my entire school life was under Thatcher

there were shit loads of strikes

Dont tell the kids, but not all teachers have gone out on strike.

that's right.

In our little one's case, even though only about 30% of the staff are in the union that's striking, they've closed anyway so that those not on strike don't have to cross any potential picket lines.

It also means they get full pay as they're not striking, but unable to work.

Cunts.

'tis true, I also went to school in the Thatcher era and there were far more strikes then than there are these days

plus there were whole years when the teachers refused to do anything but teach

e.g. no sports teams

or striking

True enough.....point being that when I am in work I don't have the time to spend all day on here.

I sympathise with parents who are inconvenienced. I am looking after a group of kids today so parents do not need to take time off.

I have no problem doing this - I am used to spending 3.15pm to 5.30pm with students at school (when I could be long gone)

I usually leave work between 6.30 and 7pm - the idea that everyone is off home at 3pm is nonsense.

I apologise for having weeks of holidays - I try to make up for this by taking students abroad on trips or running additional classes to prepare them for exams. And I happily pay double or triple the price when booking a holiday.

I've been fortunate in my jobs that do get time to fuck about on here. That is utterly irrelevant though.

I'd be interested to know how many teachers have been made redundant or have had to take large pay cuts.

FTR I'm not actually in work today as I have a hospital appointment. I've had to take the day off though as we don't have sick pay. Not complaining, just pointing out some practices in the private sector. I suppose I could strike about it but maybe that'd result in someone else sat at my desk next week.

For the last four terms my son has not gone back to school on the first day back as the school has been closed for a 'teacher training day'. This day being scheduled immediately after a two; three or six-week holiday. That's 2,000 kids whose parents have to make alternative arrangements. What the fuck is that all about?

For the last week prior to school holidays the kids don't get taught or set homework. They watch videos, as the teachers are winding down prior to the holidays due to the stressful nature of the job.

Teachers are lazy, workshy bastards. Most of them.

There are quite a few being made redundant - especially with the move to Academies. And there will be a lot more taking pay cuts with Gove's new reforms.

Yes you could strike - but why would you? You seem happy with the terms and conditions of your workplace.

Sorry to hear you have a hospital appointment.

90% of teachers are in the 2 unions that are on strike.

It sounds like some head teachers (or possibly Bolton LEA) have proposed this - purely to encourage staff to jump from one union to another. Nothing to do with crossing potential picket lines.

fin are you still at SM?

ALL TEACHERS ARE LAZY

fin are you still at SM?

No - left in 2004. Worked in Bolton since.

You will have to PM me your name!

Leg extensions???

If us taxpayers hadn't paid for her funeral there'd be more to pay the teachers

Forward your complaint to the labour government who arranged and agreed for it to happen.

Funny how those calling teachers work shy and lazy are those who are on here 24/7 posting away during the day as they 'work'

When they pay my wages I shall listen.

Until then its a big "fuck off" pill to them.

Do teachers deserve anymore? I have recruited 4 apprentices this year, to find 4 good uns we had had to interview well over 60 candidates. The actual intellect and application of the vast number of 16 to 18 year olds that i have interviewed over the years does not reflect the record exam results that published year on year. Maybe im just unlucky!

I think you are the exception rather than the norm regarding what time you finish,i drive past my sons school and there aint that many cars left on the car park after 5pm.

I'd think on about taking students abroad on trips during the hols, one guy just got 5 1/2 years for it ;~)
