I have seen Zat Knight laughing and joking with the opposition 30 seconds after the final whistle, on the pitch, after a home defeat. Which really fucked me off on more than one occasion. Hardly what

He was captain for our successful promotion-winning run of form last season, so it's good enough for me.

TIL NEXT TIME

CAPSLOCK COLIN

Can't say I'm happy about it if I'm honest, but sadly there are no stand-out candidates.

Does it matter? - if not him, who else CYL, Eagles, Sordell?

Dont think it makes that much difference whos captain

i just wish we had a better centre half to play in the 11 instead of him!

I think it matters.

I want our team to have a leader, a talisman, someone you know would run through a brick wall for the side ... but more importantly, when things are going tits-up he can rally them all.

As pointed out above though, we don't seem to have anyone who ticks all of those boxes.  Knight doesn't tick a single one of them for me.

Agreed

The role of captain is pretty much a nothing role these days anyway, it's vertaibly not enough to get wound up about

It's just sad that he's as good as we've got in that position, and so is pretty much guaranteed a starting place each week

His experience over his ability must be why he's been picked

Holden ticks all those boxes but ...

It shows the lack of leadership in our team. Someone pointed it out when comparing yhe the team of 96 on another thread. All 11 would be better captains. I cant forgive him for that relegation game at Stoke. Laughing his head off.

I quite fancy Tierney for Captain.A tough tackling no nonsense guy who looks like he's up for a scrap.

Can't judge him fully yet but anything's better than that stump in the title.

People seem to forget the decent run he had happened to be when he had a decent partner at the side of him.

Would've been nice to have signed Dawson and given it to him. It's all ifs and buts though. Holden too. Shame really

Maybe, but I don't think he was ever close to coming here on a full time contract

Garppo Marx seems to think he's going to be the worse defender ever to grace the white shirt..

Not sure what the little scamp bases this on mind.

Not arsed really.

KD was captain for ages as was Nolan. Neither of them were decent captains really.

I don't think we have had a "proper" captain since Gudni.

Oh I dunno, I think Nolan was alright.  The problem came when he was playing shite and his role as captain pretty much made him undroppable.

I never thought Davies was a captain though.  Sure, and to trot out a cliche, he 'led by example' but (and I know I hark on about this a lot) but when Chelsea were dicking us at home and we were an absolute shambles that's when a captain should've called everyone into a huddle and started showing some influence and authority .. rather than, just like the rest of them, standing there shrugging his shoulders.

That's pretty much my thoughts as well

Dougie said in the fans forum that he leads on the training ground and on the pitch. He sees more of him than we do. I'll go with it because I don't think there is anyone else

Constantly moaning at refs and pointing a lot isn't good captaincy. That's what he ended up doing.

You forgot backwards star jumps.  He was good at them too.

I'm ok with this.

Yeah he did it after Stoke relegation,, Villa when he gave a pen away iirc

He was abysmal in the Premiership, if we get promoted, will he still be captain in the Prem, he's mistake prone and his only real advantage his his height and he never uses that to it's potential.

You're right Diddles, he never uses that advantage. I still find it amazing that he hasn't scored a headed goal for us in all the time he's been here and he goes up for every single corner

Whoever made that lie up wants shooting. I guess that same person saw Davies shot was destined for the top corner with eyesight like that
