August 5, 201313 yr That was going to be my exact post! I also never knew Aberdare Athletic had ever played in the football league Aberdare Athletic were in 3S for 6 seasons from 1921 to 1927. In their first season they were 8th, and as Swansea Town were 10th, Merthyr Tydfil 11th and Newport County 20th, and Wrexham were 12th in 3N, Aberdare were the second Welsh club in the league hierarchy, behind Cardiff City who were 4th in the top flight (a point above the mighty Bolton). Bury have spent 22 seasons in the top tier (and 38 in the second), as well as having 2 FA Cup wins, including the record score. No surprise that they put Wigan to shame.

August 6, 201313 yr Played in first game where subs were used? Our 69,912 record attendance is the 11th best I think - ahead of big clubs who've won stuff ...Liverpool, Leeds, Wolves, Newcastle (tho I know they haven't won much)...and way above Lancashire town team rivals.

We also once paid the worlds highest ever transfer fee, as it was at the time, when we signed George Lillycrop from Barnsley in 1913 for a whopping £1300....it was beaten not long afterwards mind.

I wouldn't argue against that tbh. Apart from the top 6/7. You have about 20 clubs that can argue betwen the next few places.
