February 12, 201610 yr Been reading and listening to things about these Gravitational Waves a lot today. Still haven't a fucking clue about any of it. Apparently that means I'm clever. Similar to Quantum Physics - "If you aren't confused, you haven't fully understood it".
February 12, 201610 yr HTH http://www.nextbigwhat.com/explained-gravitational-waves-dummies-297/ Already understand the basic concepts. Still absolutely blows my mind that they actually detected something so inconceivably minute. I'm an electrical engineer, and I can't even begin to imagine how they detected the unimaginably miniscule movement of a proton, and how they extrapolate that to be almost certain it's from 2 black holes colliding 1.3 billion years ago.
February 13, 201610 yr If I want to see 2 black holes colliding in a way I can understand, I simply type xhamster into Google

Dafuq Kinell. Deano should put a big dish on the macron roof and capture some of this energy. Sell it on the market and the club would be minted.
February 25, 201610 yr This is the best explanation I've seen so far of gravitational waves and how they're detected. It's also quite funny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajZojAwfEbs&feature=youtu.be

March 14, 201610 yr Blue Dot Festival at Jodrell Bank at the end of July looks interesting. Holy shit - you're not wrong!
March 14, 201610 yr Blue Dot Festival at Jodrell Bank at the end of July looks interesting.I likes the looks of that

March 14, 201610 yr Well your driving mate, Jules & myself will be in no fit state on the way back. I won't be able to get away from Brian Cox - I'll probably have to explain space stuff to him
March 15, 201610 yr I won't be able to get away from Brian Cox - I'll probably have to explain space stuff to him Stay away from the noncey fucker
April 8, 201610 yr Just watched this live. Absolutely incredible feat of engineering. It's worth watching the whole thing, but skip to about 35 mins if you just want to see the landing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pUAydjne5M Edited April 8, 201610 yr by Cheese

So glad they managed it after the technical difficulties they've had on the past couple of attempts. Must be unimaginably difficult.
