Apparently peoples benefits are now in the process of being pulled in together to a 'universal benefit' where they are given everything they need once a month direct in their bank and they have to pay everything themselves, no more housing benefit etc.

They have to manage their own finances.

Don't know how i feel about this really,on one hand I think fuck em they should have to deal with modern life like the rest of us.

But on the other hand I think this is only going to lead to more problems.

Crimes rates will soar that's for certain.

The clamp down on people taking the piss is well and truly underway round here, but there's an easy way around it for the scroungers.

They simply find a relative/friend who is on disability allowance due to whatever reason made up or not and they register as their carers.

The laws on registered carers are ridiculously lax to say the least.

Whatever you do to stop the fuckers, they will always find a way.

Things have never been any different.

Those nasty landlords are going to be highly pissed off

That's when it started to go crap for us.

Soon as the money stopped appearing straight in our bank the problems started.

Lass we had in started to find more important things to pay for.

It's a great idea what they are doing in theory...but giving Chantelle from Baked bean island or Jock McStuffins from central drive 2 grand at the start of the month can only spell disaster.

The government are trying to save money and hassle by doing it this way but I'm beginning to think they are causing themselves more grief as a result of it.

True.

My daughter has autism and as such, we're "entitled" to DLA for her, which we have claimed and do get and we use that to cover additional expense caused by her condition.

That's fair enough.

But I'm also entitled to apply for carer's allowance for looking after her!

She's in school for most of the day and I'm her parent: caring is one of the roles anyway.

I haven't applied for carers' BTW.

You're probably a rare breed not claiming.  Good for you.

Maybe you could claim it and then donate it to a local charity that supports volunteer carers.

but it won't be the governments problem as they have paid the money to chantelle and jock, its the responsibility of chantell/jock to pay the bills.

i agree with you gonzo, but the government won't be held responsible!

i think what the government are trying to do is forcibly educated people with regards income and outgoing. thus creating the need and want to provide money for rent, food and power.

or at least thats how i see it, weather it will work or not is the real question. i think the great unwashed will remain unwashed.

They'll simply be able to buy bigger televisions and more scratch cards, smoke more fags, play more online bingo and go to Benidorm more often.  Bills/rent etc still wont get paid.

See, these folk will then get evicted (I'd have no quarms throwing a constant nonpayer out as would many land lords I imagine) and where will these folk then be shunted to? It'll be the government's problem then. They really havent thought this through

Channel 4 have gone massively down in my estimation with their recent spate of programmes like this shit.

Its almost daily express levels of shit stirring.

Exactly. I imagine they'll be getting fucked for it soon anyway, as it's just come to light that they told the people in the programme it was for a documentary called "Community Spirit".

It's like Channel 4 approaching you to make a documentary called "The Friendliest Bloke in Bolton", then after filming's finished, they carefully edit the footage, add sinister music, and rename it "Bolton's Most Dangerous Paedophile".

The people outraged by this sort of programme are the exact audience it's aimed at - fucking idiots.

I really try and avoid but ended up watching that immigration series on BBC2 last night after the nonce. It was quite well done, sympathetically at times. so I imagine it has lower viewing figures.

This.

Funnily enough don't think it will get commissioned though.

Benefit fraud costs us about £2bn a year.

Tax evasion about £30bn.

Hmmm I wonder what we should focus on?

Well, not tax avoidance, as it's legal
