Thing is it's all voyeristic nonsense. Yes it was shocking, these people were beyond any system and social normity. Bet we all chuckled at that poor drug addict illiterate sod who alluded to being abused as a kid. What sort of upbringing did he have? Seemed a gentle soul forever to be fucked. He just couldn't cope.

 

Most people on benefits are not like this, if they were it wouldn't be worthy of a TV programme. Funnily enough most of then are like you and me; but that's not going to make decent viewing.

 

I did get angry, just made me fucking sad that in Britain today we have this sub class, who live beyond and below normal society. But don't let this programme make you think this is the norm.

 

I work for an organisation that host an annual conference for cultural marketing professionals, we had a senior bid from Channel 4 talk this year, great bloke and very good at his job but despite the remit as a public service broadcaster they still need the viewing figs to support awarding winning but essentially unpopular programmes like Channel 4 news or the coverage of the Paraolympics. To compete these programmes and their ilk, such as The Undateables, keep the Channel relevant ie in the public eye whilst competing against the myriad of cables channels and are edgy enough (or can be dressed up as social commentary) to keep the public money as their remit to be the public service alternative. Plus, it makes shed loads from media advertising.

 

The fact that it's being discussed on a football forum shows it worked I suppose.

Oh, I've just got annoyed at those two East Europeans. How come they get social security numbers to get "jobseekers allowance", am I being unfair saying, if they're not working they should go back?

That's my views also. I've no issue with people coming to the country who are coming to work and bring something to society but to come and not have job then it should be no benefits

What I've got a problem with is jobs being put aside for them knowing they'll do minimum wage for 6 months before they can go onto benefits, then the next migrant walks into the job.
