Freedman has come under much scrutiny after allowing Craig Davies to join League One side Preston North End on loan on transfer deadline day, and for not recalling Marvin Sordell or Tom Eaves to ease their shortage.

 

But the Trotters boss is adamant he has the personnel to succeed, and doesn't need to bring his loanees back just yet.

 

"We have got people in the team that are capable of scoring goals - like Liam Trotter and Mark Davies," Freedman told the Bolton News.

 

"Yes it's unfortunate Jermaine Beckford is injured but I don't think you can just pinpoint that (Craig Davies's loan) as being the thing to blame.

 

"The chances are coming and our approach play has been good but we just need to start getting back to clean sheets, we proved that last year, and then I know we can get the goals we need to win games of football."

States that we have people in the team that can score goals and then names 2 midfielders.

 

Then goes on to say that we have had chances and the approach play has been good, which therefore means we just need somebody to score the fucking goals, surely the bit you're missing Dougie is the strikers that we have a huge lack of, they might finish these so called chances you mention because clearly these midfielders that you're relying on aren't.

 

It's not rocket science, we have 1 fit striker, we don't score many goals. (We also have 4 centre backs across the back 4 and are shit at the back but that's a different rant)

Pretty sure I can pinpoint that as being to blame for us only having one fit striker, Dougie. We had two strikers, you loaned one out and so we have one left. Maths is fun!

To be fair it wouldn't surprise me if he did, he's good enough to be able to score a goal every so often breaking from midfield. To put any kind of reliance on that happening regularly enough to justify letting 1 of your 2 fit strikers go out on loan is clueless.

 

As for the mason deal, if he comes back and plays him up top in a 2 with Juke then fine, if however he comes back and plays as the lone striker instead of Juke (or Beckford when he's fit) then Freedman has lost any ounce of sense that I thought he had left.

 

I also think from what I have seen of both players that Craig Davies is more effective in this league than Mason, i've probably not seen enough of Mason in his short loan spell to completely write him off but I am wondering whether it's worth all this effort and only having 1 striker for 4 or 5 games just to effectively swap Davies for Mason.
