Boltonian Memories Revisited...

Noticed Edwin P Lees has bit the dust yesterday...

What else has gone never to be seen again?

Burnden obviously...

My old man reckoned we used to have two train stations in town, one on Great Moor Street - before my time.

I do remember the main station being over the road from the present one, used to have a coal fire in the ticket office....

Anyone else with any more nostalgia?

I know it's been done to death already but...

A pint for anyone who has a picture of the budgie cage in the Arndale :)

If we're shopping now, Rip Rap

During my first full-time jobs I'd always make a beeline for Rip-Rap for a shirt or other garment (and a mixtape if there was a bit of change) for the weekend - used to spend up to a quarter of my wage on something fit only for dishrags after the weekend's antics...

There used to be a tall blonde girl worked in there that probably starred in more than a few of lads my age wank fantasies. :)

There also used to be D-Koy round the corner and a few other places, Orangles for example for yer Nicholas Deakins on the never-never...

What the fuck happened? Why has it turned into some post-apocalyptic wasteland within 16/18 or so years?

I saw her a few years back, she's still got it, and, without being modest, I think I've matured into her league now...

Proper Tailors, when I first started boozing there must have been at least a dozen outlets where you could buy a "Made to measure suit"

No that's still there, The Navada got burn't down though

I'm always baffled as to why a Tailor's shop on Nelson square, complete with porthole windows, was shut for 2/3 of my life until it got reinvented as Thee Spinning Mule?

Regarding NB about the punks and crusties - the snooker club in Farnworth, since the fountains and Queen's Park lost their cache...

Finally, no Budgies - no pint ;)

Woah,  You were talking about the first place I played with tits and fingered a bird

The least you could do was get the name correct

Had a Nav card at 16 so I could get in x rated films.Plus it made getting served in town a piece of piss

Changing the topic somewhat - First pub you got served in? Mine was the Doffcocker - pints of Lowenbrau, full of ale and bravado went over the road to try my luck again and got promptly told to piss off...
