My old man reckoned we used to have two train stations in town, one on Great Moor Street - before my time.

 

I do remember the main station being over the road from the present one, used to have a coal fire in the ticket office....

There were two facing one another. Shimul's, which was shit, and one over the road - small place up some steps - that was better, though not so much that I remember its name.

 

Then there was Raj Shahi further up, which is still there and was better than both of them.

What was Funnys like on Chorley Old Road, a club or a pub? I think my mum and step dad used to go in there and Sally Up Steps.

 

Used to get dragged into the Kings Arms by my father as well, rough as a robbers dog in there.

All newsagents shut in Bolton Holidays (wakes week) and papers laid out and sold on street corners, can't believe that was only early 1980s.
