Remember their Champions' League squad is limited to 4 "Club trained" players, 4 other "English trained players" and 13 others.

Since they let Sturridge and Kasper Schmeichel go they are so stretched on club trained players that they may have to include Boyata.

As for other English trained players, they have Hart, Lescott (out of contract and leaving), Milner, Rodwell (not flavour of the month), Barry (also out of contract) and Clichy.

They will have to cut 3 of their current squad from the CL in any case, leaving them with a significantly reduced chance of optimum performance, and will be severely limited on new signings.

The YaYa story broke just after I'd read this :-

 

"Striker RC, 22, had previously admitted taking [cocaine] along with ecstasy and marijuana, and was asked to take a test by [his club] last year. Their record signing complied and was eventually sacked when the results came back .....".

"'The player has admitted to taking cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana on at least six long-term occasions with two clubs ......".   

 

The PFA backed the player and he "told Wembley chiefs to look into the legality of club medics making him give a sample". The FA have fined the club £5,000, on top of the money lost in signing the player originally. This is at Conference level, so it's substantial money.   [ The Non-League Paper ]

 

And now YaYa is upset.

 

It's all enough to make you want to give up football while the current muppets are running the game.
