We're lacking in key areas, especially defensively. Could also do with that one 'world class' player, who could provide that special moment.

 

If we get that in the next couple of years, with the young lads currently coming through then I can see us challenging in 2018/2020.

He's a vastly experienced manager. If he can't do the job then nobody can, Capello is an example, very successful manager but when it came down to the games that mattered he failed to deliver, or more importantly the players did.

 

There lies the problem, our players are just not good enough, welbeck is not a footballer and Sturridge isn't good enough at international level, the same can be said for Henderson and jagielka.

 

We might have a decent chance at the euros, Barkley, wilshere, stones, shaw and berahino will be first teamers by then.

Hopefully this current crop will of improved by 2016 and we can give it a good go

In 2016 we'll have dropped Sterling, Sturridge and Barkley in favour of the new next generation, looking at Russia 2018.

I'm not of the get rid mentality and like to see managers get time, but I just don't think he's up to it he's made too many elementary mistakes in selection,formation and substitutions he's the wrong age we need a vibrant strong and innovative manager who can get a team first and foremost to defend and get players playing above themselves and at this level the only thing that matters is winning. I genuinely think we will struggle to qualify for the euros with him in charge.

I've said it before good managers improve players I don't think Roy's improved any of our team and he looks like an old man who does not inspire players put your carpet slippers on and call it a day Roy before your sacked.

International managers don't have enough time with them and most training sessions are built around set plays and tactics, where we admittedly fucked up.

Too many of our players have underperformed, with very few real highlights.

Doesn't matter who's in charge, the problem with the England team isn't the manager it's everything else down to grass roots. The FA haven't got a clue.

 

Also whilst the obsession from most that the Premier League is the best in the world, it will always come first to the detriment of the national team.

Forget about rebuilding from the grass roots up, it's never going to happen. The F.A. have been waffling on about it for decades. The only real sense i've heard spoken about our game has come from Hoddle. He's adament that you have to work with the players you've got and focus on what they're good at, rather than trying to mould them into something they're not.

We were beaten by 2 better sides by trying to not get beat. Costa Rica have the cup minnows attitude of 'fuck it lets have a crack' and it's worked for them as it does for a few teams in the FA cup every year.

 

Italy and Uruguay beat us by the odd goal in 3 it's not like they've given us a spanking. Both games could've been very different. and perhaps a world class game changing player like Suarez would give us that little edge in these games.

 

Whoever is manager will still have the same players to pick from and still have the traditional English worry of a lack of real left sided winger/attacker along with a rare lack of a true top class centre half.

Over my years following football england have had Adams, Campbell, Terry or Ferdinand to play alongside other decent level centre backs sadly they're retired or past their best and there is no heir apparent showing themselves at the minute.

Perhaps Stones, Jones or even Dier from Sporting will show themselves to be able to step up
