COYW Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Forest were one of the biggest net spenders in those two seasons, as were Wigan and QPR... and us. Quote
Zico Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) zico forest from the site i mentioned http://www.transferleague.co.uk/football-transfers/nottingham-forest-transfers.html i used to use transfermarkt but i think that went subscription only ok but it also says: Beckford: £1M Spearing: £2M Mills: £2M (and George Thorne £2M fwiw) Edited September 17, 2014 by ZicoKelly Quote
COYW Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Burnley last year. Southampton in previous years. Bournemouth's recent history. You could add Blackpool to that list. Two play-off finals in three seasons. Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Forest were one of the biggest net spenders in those two seasons, as were Wigan and QPR... and us. blackburn, 8 million plus nett spend you could at least try and make a fcuking case not full of holes Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 ok but it also says: Beckford: £1M Spearing: £2M Mills: £2M (and George Thorne £2M fwiw) i didn't include thorne he was this season Quote
COYW Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 blackburn, 8 million plus nett spend you could at least try and make a fcuking case not full of holes I didn't say Blackburn weren't one of the biggest spenders... Quote
COYW Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 i didn't include thorne he was this season You've not included Robert Hall either. He wasn't a free transfer. Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Forest were one of the biggest net spenders in those two seasons, as were Wigan and QPR... and us. ok then how many others seeing as the inference was that we were 3rd behind wigan and qpr Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 You've not included Robert Hall either. He wasn't a free transfer. tbh, theres probably loads i haven't included, from us, from wolves, from fcuking timbuktu i've not checked any of them from any of the clubs theres enough in there to show we're not a big spender (on fees) in this league Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 you'd expect to have a worse team if you're paying 10 million a year in wages than when you're spending 70, too yes? Not necessarily. It depends on how stupid the chairman is. You've already pointed out we've had players that other teams couldn't/didn't want to buy because they couldn't/wouldn't afford to pay them. Who honestly believes Rooney is worth what he's getting paid? What other teams would pay him that? Not many if any. Quote
Zico Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 i didn't include thorne he was this season I know, that was in reference to the undisclosed (wiki) v £3M (garp) v £2M (this new site your using) the other fees mentioned were to help fill in a few holes, purely as a guide like Quote
BOWTUN BAKED Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 You could add Blackpool to that list. Two play-off finals in three seasons. As I said, I could go on, but I couldn't be arsed Quote
Garrp Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 3million Thorne was from the horses mouth (Sam Rush) at a fans forum I listened to Quote

Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Not necessarily. agreed but a team being paid 10 million is probably going to be worse than one being paid 70 million the fact we had the 12th highest wage bill in the prem when we got relegated will long torment me Quote
Zico Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 3million Thorne was from the horses mouth (Sam Rush) at a fans forum I listened to horses mouth is always the best source this is how i found out the signing on fee, never mind the wages, for Baptiste was far, far higher than anyone else, including newly promoted Palace managed by his old manager, were willing to offer him admittedly, I wasn't the horse whisperer, my mate was, but it's as good a source for me without talking to PG directly it would seem the moral of the story is we weren't "skint" and spent what a side expecting to challenge would spend to compliment their existing, relatively high value squad/wage bill up until this season, because now, we're skint Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 i raise your baptiste with 10 signings for watford 'for nowt' theres about 10 different discussions going on, one of which is the suggestion we have been one of the top 6 spenders on fees over the last two completed seasons we haven't and i agree, we're skint gonzo says we're not Quote
Henry_VIII Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Casino, simple question, do you think Freedman and the management team are getting the best out of the players at the club now? Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Casino, simple question, do you think Freedman and the management team are getting the best out of the players at the club now? thats another subject not one i can answer either but if you asked if i was disappointed with our start, i'd say yes if you ask do i think we'll go down, no i do know that lonergan, moxey, mills, feeney, danns and mason weren't getting a game at the clubs we signed them from so maybe they just arent that good add two of our better players are made from glass, the back five has lost bogdan, mcnaughton, wheater and moxey to injury this season, its not been easy so, yes i hoped for better but no, i haven't lost hope just yet and i still see a team trying for him - plenty chances last night to lie down and lose Quote

Where do you think this team should finish at the end of the season? All teams have injuries etc.... colours to the mast time.... Quote
COYW Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 theres about 10 different discussions going on, one of which is the suggestion we have been one of the top 6 spenders on fees over the last two completed seasons we haven't One of the myths that is trotted out about Dougie from time to time is that he's been given next to nothing to spend. We know for a fact that he's been given £4M to spend. We also know that we've brought in nowt in transfer fees, so he's had £4M net to spend. That's a decent amount by Championship standards. In fact i'd challenge you to find many other Championship clubs who had spent that sort of amount in those two seasons using that site you quoted. Quote

They probably have tbf but I can't be arsed looking, you do me a list of all net spends and then I can agree or disagree. And I imagine that the £4m spent has been "found" due to decrease in wages, and offloading high earners. All that said, we are under performing, not one player has improved under him, and playing Feeney on the left on Sat was the final straw for me. But, roll on Wolves! Quote
