tylswhite Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Net spend is irrelevant though unless you include wages. Wage bill has been reduced massively so the replacements had to come from somewhere and also be cheaper alternatives than players that left. Dougie is fucking useless but theres no way anybody can say he has had a great deal with the finance side imo. Quote
EyesRight Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 i missed saturday daughter bear says its perhaps as well i didn't do crewe either but dearden told me feeney played on the left at crewe and crossed for pratleys goal? as in, saturday wasn't some random thing That cross at Crewe was the only thing he has done in 180 minutes on the left. Last night showed he's a decent player on the right. He's a one trick pony and should be played to his strengths. Just another example of DF now maximising what he is working with IMO. Quote
Henry_VIII Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 sorry, the thread had deviated...shit mods should finish? 10th i'm hoping for 6th That's where Iam at, Iam Looking at top 10 at Christmas and then anything is possible. Another simple question and again it's an opinion do you think Freedman is the man to get us in that position? Quote
tylswhite Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 If your playing one of our wingers on the left it has to be chungy as he rarely goes down the line and swings a cross in anyway. He is more likely to play a killer pass or try and take the man on with skill so which side he plays on wouldn't really affect him as much imo. Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 fcuk knows, harold fcuk knows but go on, yes based on the fact we have been finishing better than we start, yes Quote

COYW Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Wage bill has been reduced massively so the replacements had to come from somewhere and also be cheaper alternatives than players that left. Most clubs in the Championship are in that position though, although apparently not many could afford what we were prepared to pay Baptiste. Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Most clubs in the Championship are in that position though, although apparently not many could afford what we were prepared to pay Baptiste. out of interest, what do we think that was see, i know what we were paying mears and no way did baptiste get offered more Quote
tylswhite Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Most clubs in the Championship are in that position though, although apparently not many could afford what we were prepared to pay Baptiste. Nowhere near the same scale of reduction that we have had to do though. Its very difficult to build a team while trying to cut so much off the wage bill imo. Baptiste did get decent pay but we didn't pay any fee so that was always going to happen. Also having a team already together on a smaller budget is one thing but having a squad like we had filled full of high earning shit that nobody will take off us suffocates the rest of the squad. Once we have bottomed out and our high earners are actually the best performers again and we can start building around them we will rise imo. P.S Im not defending Dougie here because I think he has done a poor job with the players he has got. Quote
Garrp Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Casino stop quoting COYW ffs he's as bad as snoop. Quote

They were good enough to finish 7th and then he added to the squad over the summer. The start we got off to wasn't down to having to offload anyone. I'd be prepared to accept that they weren't his first choice players if he hadn't also offloaded players he signed. Quote
gonzo Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 That's the cut and thrust of it Tylds. He's had more than enough at his disposal to put in a better return than he has. As COYW rightly points out numerous times he took a team pushing for the play offs to our worst run in living memory in the space of a few weeks. Things have got worse and worse as times gone on with not one sign of improvement. We go round in circles here on a daily basis, but I'm pretty sure nobody involved with BWFC are impressed with the shite we see on a weekly basis. You only have to speak to people in and around the ground to sense the mood of depression. Theres No point cock waving over a win against Rotherham that we could have quite easily lost, the problems are still there, and that problem is the management wether you like it or not. Quote

gonzo Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 dawson coming saw us get better dawson leaving saw us get worse Give over you crack head. Your blaming our most catastrophic half of season in living memory on the fact we lost Craig Dawson? Bloody hell you tire me out. He had all summer to organise a defence. Same goes for this season too. There's always an excuse. I just don't get it. Nobody is enjoying this. Plus nobody is making it up either. It's been dreadful,is dreadful and will carry on being dreadful until a change is made. Quote
Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 everybody can have an opinion mine differs from yours no problem with that its when folk quote facts that people can be pulled apart you reckon we've more money than all but a couple in this league its utter bullshit so, i don't really know why i humour you unless it passes the days for me Quote

Pulled apart? You've come back with a cobbled together list of transfer fee's off a bullshit website and included which bits you wanted to. Our wage bill is higher than most of this division. That is fact. If we were so skint, how could afford to bring in Baptiste,Spearing, mills and the likes all on extremely healthy wages for this division? If your singling out this seasons expenditure and this season alone, yes that has taken a massive downturn. But my overall opinion of Dougie Freedman isn't just based on him not having much money to spend this summer. It's based on full season of shite last season and 5 weeks of utter garbage this. You carry on fighting your losing battle mate,in your consistently condescending manor. Casino knows best after all. Folk should remember that. Quote

Casino Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Our wage bill is higher than most of this division. That is fact. I'm not sure it is now agreed i do think we probably have some of the highest earners in the league, though? i suspect bogdan, mills, pratley, spearing, lee and a few more wont be with us next season Quote
gonzo Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 so is this true or not bearing in mind 6 clubs still have parachute money Maybe I should rephrase. Freedman has had as much money at his disposal during his tenure than all but 4-5 clubs in this division. This summer no. During his stay yes. You seem to he forgetting last season ever happened. He was allowed to bring in players on high wages, most of those players are still in the squad and he's still yet to get them to perform to any kind of standard. The rest of the division hasn't all of Sudden overtaken us this season due to a higher spending power. We've been on a decline since from a time where he had money,he no good with it no good without it. If you want to start comparing budgets have a look at crewe's or Bury's or sheff weds or any of the other lesser clubs from last season finance wise that have totally outplayed us. Quote
ex_midlandwhite Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) Did Freedman really spend £2m on Mills? I had in mind he was a Coyle signing, albeit one of his better ones eventually. And Mills got dogs abuse early days so has Freedman improved him? Edited September 17, 2014 by ex_midlandwhite Quote
