July 24, 201412 yr I've got Danny Williams at 6/1 for gold in men's judo. Also on Malikia Goel to win the women's 100m air pistol at 4/1 haha
July 24, 201412 yr land of hope and glory being sung to the flag of st George in Glasgow, does it get any better?
July 24, 201412 yr No Vicky P this year though Scally. The games are poorer for it. Edited July 24, 201412 yr by CWP
July 24, 201412 yr That Brownlee bloke is super-human. Won the triathlon and looked like he could have carried on
July 24, 201412 yr Some of the nations have a lower population that Adlington for fucks sake It's more suited to a school sports day.
July 24, 201412 yr Wiggins & co thrashed by the Aussies in the cycling. It's their Olympics given they can't win when it counts.
July 24, 201412 yr England v aussies int medal table? They'll win comfortably. Weird selection of sports and the usual zillions of medals for covering the same distance in water with different silly walks. They're mixing in some disabled events and treating them like real events so that will help England given we're kings of the world in pretending it's the same as the main event.
July 24, 201412 yr There's no way that Judo player is called 'Lick My Bum'. Someone needs to have a word with that 5 Live commentator.
July 25, 201412 yr land of hope and glory being sung to the flag of st George in Glasgow, does it get any better? for the medal ceremony it seems to be Jerusalem for these games.
July 25, 201412 yr They'll win comfortably. Weird selection of sports and the usual zillions of medals for covering the same distance in water with different silly walks... Swimming, it's called swimming. It's a sport where dropping a few grand on kit won't make you go any faster.
July 25, 201412 yr Furthermore, is we're talking silly, there any more daft sight in sport than the cycling event involving a rev and go moped?
July 25, 201412 yr Swimming, it's called swimming. It's a sport where dropping a few grand on kit won't make you go any faster. That'd be why they banned the latest swim suits and had to wipe out the records set with them because they were unattainable without those suits, right? Different medals for different strokes is a bloody joke. Might as well have the 100m hop and a 3 legged race in the athletics.
July 25, 201412 yr Why is it that Ellen Gandy who competed for GB in the last Olympics, is now swimming for Australia in the Commonwealth Games? Were they one short or something?

I knew someone, well, you to be honest, would bring up the suits - yes, it's correct they got rid of them in competition, rightly so... Why not have one single track event, field event, ball sport event? Swimming is one of the few sports that needs f*ck all in the way of kit, could help save, rather than endanger the life of yourself (and others), can be done buy folk from cradle (almost) grave and as such shouldn't be derided by know-nowts. This wasn't intended as a pop at cycling either, I only used it as an example as to how any sport can be made out to be ludicrous.
July 25, 201412 yr And that isn't veiling at all I'm from the Len Fairclough School of Hard Knocks, which I'm sure most will give a thumbs up to.

I just find races where you're not allowed to go as fast as you can (i.e. walking, any swimming which isn't front crawl) a bit contrived. The same bloke winning 7 golds for basically the same overall skill seems very biased to me when they're no more dominant than other athletes limited to 1, 2 or 3 events by much more realistic event setting.
July 25, 201412 yr I just can't work up any enthusiasm for these games, a bit toy town and second rate me thinks. I like track and field so I'll hang on for the European championships in August.
