Bet the average 10k times are double that of any other 10k with all the salford scrotes after robbing your trainers

quite a few are doing the Wigan 10k which is on the same day.

Popular race day. Its the Great North Run for me.

All runners have to wear grey marl joggers and have one hand down the front. They must also have a pit bull type dog which very occasionally may be on a lead.

Got Great North Run on that day followed by Birmingham Half marathon in October (weekend of birmingham away, happy days) then Leeds Abbey Dash in November month off in December then start again next year with hopefully London Marathon in April if i get through in the ballot.

I ran a km last night, fucked me right up

Those types don't do running, they always seem to ride round their estates on those tiny little bikes.

Did 3 mile last night, feeling the strain today

Many moons ago I used to play for a team in Salford, a mix of scrotes and ne'er do wells. The ironic thing is they had exactly the same views about Farnworth and seriously considered it to be rougher than their own township.

Hi All,

As stated above I'm doing the Salford 10K on Sunday with 2 of my colleagues.

We've decided to try and raise a few quid for the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, which really is a great charity.

Any donations would be gratefully appreciated.

I'll make the page a bit more glamorous tomorrow :D

Iamin, but over £18 an hour for a family support worker is obscene.

I'm aiming for sub 50, it's my first go so if I go a bit over I'd still be happy.

Good luck in yours pal

Gud luck. It's set to be a nice day. I'll chuck a couple of quid your way. I'll still probably have 6 miles to do in the GNR when you finsh.????

When I did the Great North Run, I was quite pleased with my time of 1:48:48  -  I was in the same "race" as the great Haile Gebrselassie (sp), and he had gotten over the line in less than an hour. Incredible really, as I was gasping for breath at mile 7, he was probably washed, dressed and back on a plane to bongo-bongo land

I'm a natural athlete, well since I've shed about 3 stone :D

Thanks pal, I had mentally blocked out that mile marker! The start of the "dreaded" 4 mile climb towards the sea!????

The only real lump is between miles 10 and 11. Did this two years ago and absolutely loved it. Did 1:37 and could have gone faster but was saving myself for St Neots (a flatter course and great for a PB)  a couple of weeks later (plus I was staying in Newcastle overnight and wanted to go out on the piss)

Went on the piss after the race - asleep by 9.30

Went to St. Neots - did 1:45 and suffered all the way round.

If you've got it in your legs go for it. Don't save it for tomorrow, it never comes.
