I would probably have also written off any chance of promotion for the next 5~10 years, and hope that the "off field" activities start to help to get the club close to being self running/funding. That's a sensible plan imo. How do you think Dougie is doing with that? Would you offer him a new contract at the end of the season?

What do you think the best course of action is from here taking into account all the issues we have from wank football to money trouble. Would be interested in most peoples answer to that question as well. Is football the only sport ED puts money into? No. Is football the sport in which his family is most interested? No. Is he going to put more money into BWFC? Not a lot. Why did DF leave Palace? We don't know. What were his initials targets here? We don't really know (but straight promotion would have been good). What are his current targets here? We don't know, but avoiding relegation is probably the main one. Why does he change the team so much? We don't know, but find it frustrating. Perhaps the need to keep 20+ players happy and match-fit is part of it - we don't know. Perhaps some players have minor injuries - we don't know. The game is no longer simply 11-a-side - for every match a plan is needed to cover injury to any position, plus the flexibility to change formation in play to react to the score/situation. We are supporters (I think), so sounding off on here may be OK, but lending support is desirable at matches. I think the only possibility of potting DF is after Wigan away in March. That allows JP or whoever the "dead cat bounce" opportunity to escape relegation. Would I offer a new contract - definitely not unless we move considerably up the table again. Which we might. Personally I have a short short-list. Didn't necessarily expect to say this, but I agree with Cheese.

Even had we bid early quite early, it doesn't mean we would have faced no other competition for his signature.

Its a sensible plan but not a sustainable one if the manager cant keep the team playing at least near their maximum and the fans onside. Staying in this division to get our house in order is something I can accept but we should be a lot more comfortable than we are and with the squad we have be producing better performances. August 28, 201411 yr if I was DF and had Palace in the play offs and thought I might take them up, I would stay and get a pay rise there, given my affinity with the club, IF Bolton's offer was to just cut the wage bill and keep them in the same league, as it's not very ambitious, and I am ambitious but if like we all know the job was to get Bolton promoted, I'd probably think I had a better chance of going up and staying there with Bolton trying to relate this to any other "real life" job situation is a waste of time, of course I would take that job offer of yours, unless A = bumming men or something equally ridiculous why did pulis leave palce?

It's a horrible thought, but maybe the owner is happy for us to stay in this division whilst we try to sort ourselves out. aye, but at the start of the 2nd season, it wasn't his job either (to reduce the wage bill and consolidate in this league) as he was bringing in players on decent wages and was still stuck with the deadwood, there's nothing he could do to reduce it really it was only this summer that the wage bill was really trimmed when all the deadwood was cleared and now, the wage bill has been trimmed, so that's not his job for this season either, and he's out of contract in the summer won't be surprised if we do stick with him till end of the season, but it won't be as a reward for doing what is expected

Maybe that was the original plan, no doubt, because we still had all the players from our Premier League squad. However, with Gartside saying it's important to get promoted, perhaps he could see this rebuilding would be required if we didn't. Perhaps he saw DF as a guy who could either get us promoted, or sort our of financial well-being if he didn't? In that regard, maybe that's why he's not getting fired - because he's doing exactly what he's being asked to do?

Juke delayed signing for Burnley to give us the opportunity, we had 500k from Burnley for Sordell we didn't have to sign Trotter,Feeney, Dervite we have similar players already at the club, but no one like Juke, you have to take a calculated gamble sometimes and at around 1.5 million plus sordell money and without the 3 aforementioned players signing surely we could have took that calculated risk/gamble couldn't we? The alternative is the shit we find ourselves in. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.
