  • Who needs positives? We're Bolton Wanderers for fucks sake. All these cunts who got far too giddy during the Allardyce days, and are currently bursting blood vessels because things aren't going exactl

  • If I'm tired and fancy a kip at the match I can get my head down on 3-4 of the many empty seats around me. Tell me which high flying Prem club offers that facility!

  • Chungy is getting good again.   We could finish with 127 points this season.

He has the speed. He has no need to cross the line early if he angles his run correctly.

Let's hope last night restores his confidence for a good scoring spell.

This makes no sense if you ignore Tyldesley's point as there is a correlation between how the run is timed and angled, and when the ball should usually be released.

Keeping him in the team for a few games on the trot rather than dropping him after hitting some form might help too

Find myself agreeing with this yes he misses lots of goals but he's still our most likely scorer.

A forward who is called offside as often as Beckford is doing something wrong. He can adjust his run, he can't adjust the release of the pass.

It's a little bit of six and a half dozen.

Having played forward, I would get frustrated when the midfielders wouldn't release the ball at the time I expected. It knackers that run up, and it takes a moment to get back into position to make another.

Now playing midfield, I get frustrated that my through ball results in the forward being caught offside.

It IS the forward's responsibility to make sure he isn't offside, but midfielders can help him out in that job by releasing at the right time. It doesn't help when you chop and change players all the time because they don't get used to how each other play as much as they could.

Beckford has pace. He could give the defenders a half yard of lead and still beat them to the ball. The fact that he gets caught offside so much just shows a lack of concentration for me.

Look I've not seen him play, but I think it’s a confidence thing, if he’s scoring on a regular bases then I think he will give the defender that half yard, but it sounds from what people are say that is confidence is low, he’s trying to get that half yard in front of the defender to give himself a little bit of extra time.

No but the others can

Which was the other point

I'm not saying that Beckford is only offside because they hold the ball too long BTW as I would register the majority of the blame on him

Either way it really doesn't matter that much

Happen he's not very playing with confidence as the fans boo him on for his substitute appearances

Happen he's not very playing with confidence as the fans boo him on for his substitute appearances

Come on Gonk we all know booing a player makes him play better

perhaps if he was deemed good enough to start, instead of an on loan player, he would have confidence?

Happen he's not very playing with confidence as the fans boo him on for his substitute appearances

I've not heard anyone boo him on

Perhaps there was booing at who was substituted by the Manager?

Didn't take long to be back to the fans' fault though eh

Yadda yadda

Freedman's in the BN today talking Beckford up as an out and out finisher, how he has a manager who believes in him and how he's puzzled why some fans havent taken to him.

I'm fucking puzzled too Dougie. Play him week in week out regardless if you're that into him.

Im puzzled how the fuck he came to that conclusion. He misses more fucking sitters than any striker ive ever known.

Ive never know a striker try to shoot and miss the ball completely as much as well. Maybe we need to play with a ball with a bell in it to help him out.

Beckford got a bit of stick Tuesday (which from his facial reaction he heard), something along the lines of "Beckford Beckford show us your thumb".

Noted that when he scored he celebrated with the team, rather than running to the fans on both occasions.

Think it was Blackpool away last season the first time the fans really sang his name and he responded with appreciative applause back.

It then followed that he scored the first in our first win at Birmingham, then again at home to Sheff Weds, then a couple of weeks later the las minute effort at Bournemouth.

Would have to agree that he is a confidence player, but a little encouragement from the stands can go a long way.

PS another positive, Baptiste wants to stay at Blackburn

What is all the crazy talk of balls being played thought to Beckford on the floor??

They are normally 6 ft above his head near the corner flag aren't they?

DF has accepted that we don't like him and don't want him here. And in 12 months he won't be.

If he was in any doubt then the "DF you're a wanker" sang at Crewe confirms.

Because of this his post match ramblings don't thank the supporters any more.

Serious question CM. Who do the fans want? At what point will we give a manager time? We are shit and it isn't working but without giving a manager (not necessarily DF) time i don't know what we can achieve.

youre the man with all the stats, i think?

how many shots has he had this season

how many shots has he had on target

how many have hit the corner flag

i'd not back him to hit the side of a bus but last season, his goals came in a burst

folk look at him and think he's a cocky fcuker

i reckon he's owt but - looks to me like hes glad the ball doesn't come his way

so the fans are now picking players as well as managers, I wonder how thats going to work out ... People have been giving Freedman shit about man managment and here he his in the press giving his forward support and the first thing some fans do his rip the shit out of the said player.

This is my take on it at the moment.

Dougie Freedman is fucking useless and is not the long term answer but getting rid of him at the right time I feel is crucial.

If we want a short term fix then we could punt him now but then we have to pay off him and all his cronies which puts a big dent in the next managers budget. That's assuming we can afford to pay these muppets off without going over our projected FFP threshold etc.

For me I think the best long term option is to grind this season out with knobhead in charge and then wave goodbye to him in the summer. This gives a good chance to work on getting the best man for the job between now and then.

The only other factor that comes into play is if we don't start picking up enough points to stay away from relegation trouble we might have to punt him sooner. Sounds grim but its pretty much where we are at as a club at the moment imo.

I accept that we cannot afford a big pay-off.

I don't accept that we just bumble along with no direction, strategy and plan.

The whole thing will come to an ugly end soon if a win isn't forthcoming as the players will/are already noticeably nervous about playing and taking any responsibility.

IMO there will be some respite here if DF is sacked and even an interim appointment is made.

Nobody at all has any belief in him.

I would go for Billie Davies as a long term successor.

Bobby Charlton is remembered for the goals he scored (plus assisting West Ham to win the World Cup), but fifty years ago he was singled out as the player who missed most sitters in the top division. He didn't do many air shots, but tried to blast every shot whether or not it was necessary.
