I honestly don't know who some people think we are?   We're a tiny club in the grand scheme of things at the bottom of the championship, had a 10 year period punching above our weight in the tough

  • Just been on sky sports afterwards he collected all the wooly hats and cut eye holes into them.

  • I've not had a chance to read the thread at all yet but my view is he is a superb choice and the only reason I could see for not wanting him is bigotry.

I take it you love everybody then, even the DMB's ??

No, but I don't dislike individuals based on their past affiliation to certain football clubs either. I dislike "Manchester United", but I don't hate any individual associated with them purely because of it. It's a similar thing to what Gonzo was saying earlier in the thread. Most people mature beyond those juvenile emotions (unless they're religious, in which case they'll probably have that fucked up way of thinking for life).

:shok:

well, he wouldn't have 30 million to waste on jones and smalling, so why not

ABR (anyone but Redfearn).

I wonder if the ESLSC will venture to their seats during his first home game?

It's neil Lennon

Mr H hasn't been to his seat since we played at Burnden

Charlton have things planned

I'm in love with him already.

Hopefully this will be the right appointment. The fat controller has to get it right sooner or later. Little nervous that Lennon has no experience outside of Scotland when it comes to management, but like most of you I'll back him for now. COYWM lets have a play off place.

66/1 on skybet for a top 6 finish

im on top half finish

very good value

I don't get this 'never managed in England ' argument. It's not like he's an Italian or owt and comes from an entirely different culture football wise. He knows the English game inside out.

His character suggests he's the type of bloke who'll galvanise the team/staff and create a backs to the wall type mentality. Just what we need at the minute IMO...

Johan mjalby was a decent centre half so hopefully stop leaking goals

i think some using it are getting in early with a 'see, it was never going to work'

its like them knocking garty cos he wanted somebody with experience but then appointed lennon

we compiled a list on here of possibles and nobody thought lennon was anywhere near it

im still surprised he applied

but, then i see that video of the training facilities

im on top half finish

very good value

£20 at 28/1 I got. Pay for the big P's stag doo in Benidorm plus extras that

I've bet on both top 6 and top half

Feeling optimistic

Edited by CWP

I think the championship experience was thrown in my the Bolton News as a trait they understood Bolton wanted. I suspect they just made it up. It was a reasonable assumption. But I don't think it makes much sense.

First priority is a good manager.

Second is a good manager proven across a variety of scenarios.

Third is a manager proven capable of dealing with the exact situation you are in.

One might argue that Mowbray fits those three criteria. I'd argue though that he falls down at the first. After that nobody on our list hit all three. Realistically no candidate interested was likely to. Allardyce and Pulis would but out of our reach.

So you get the best good manager you can. There are lot of poor managers with championship experience and I'd rather have a good manager.

Of course the question with anyone is whether they are a good manager in the first place and Lennon has to show that. But I don't think we have enough evidence yet to say. What I'd argue is that all the other managers we had available to us had enough evidence to say they were ok rather than good or spectacular. So from that side if Lennon impressed it is easy to see why he got the nod over those with more experience.

but, then i see that video of the training facilities

Exactly. Our behind-the-scenes set-up is still Premier League standard and anyone would be impressed by it. A bit of back-to-basics and a consistent team selection, and Lennon will have us flying in no time.

What odds did you get?

That's decent, I got em at 20/1

Where do you get odds like that? I was just about to drop a tenner on it at 11/1 with SkyBet!

I think I might have missed the boat...

Oh well. I'm not usually a betting man anyway. Obviously!
