December 9, 201411 yr thing is I can see the point in wanting the best academy and city for years had one of the best and regularly brought players through and played them but if City want to dominate and win CL and all that, they'll always buy first, unless they have a manager committed to the long term future of the club and be willing to bring kids though - like AF at Utd i don't see them being that long term with their managers though, we'll see They're aware of the pressure from ffp and the success of Barcelona. The idea is to develop the bulk of the squad and bring in the megastars with the cash they're allowed to spend.
December 9, 201411 yr Author They're aware of the pressure from ffp and the success of Barcelona. The idea is to develop the bulk of the squad and bring in the megastars with the cash they're allowed to spend. That's the frightening thing. They haven't just built a training complex to bring through their own players, they're expanding the stadium to bring in even more cash. That will allow them to spend an even bigger proportion of their budget on wages and transfer fees. They'll be outbidding everyone else for the best players. Welcome to the future of football.
December 9, 201411 yr Aye, fair enough, hes not just pumped money into the team, its quite impressive the way hes trying to pump money into the local economy. Heard something recently, apparently, of the 400 or so new jobs created, about 10% of them had gone to local people that were previously unemployed. Fair play I say. As for the 3 gazillion million players on their books, again, fair play. If they can afford it, which they can, crack on. No point in moaning about them snapping up local talent etc. Let them, let them take the best, they can't all make it, let them pay to train & develope them. We just need to be smart, adept our business model, get in early with the ones they release, try to find the odd missed gem etc.
December 9, 201411 yr Author At least we're looking into that whole infrastructure thing with the new education facilities. That's really going to benefit us in years to come. It makes you wonder about what provisions the likes of Blackburn are making. They can't just rely on crowds to bring in the income.
December 9, 201411 yr Plus this new accademy stadium will need sponsoring....as will probably each seperate building. I read Barcelona are sponsoring the inside of their match shirts, so how long before City / United do that aswell. I read loads of people saying how wrong the City money is, but to me the milking of Asia people & Businesses that united have done for decades is worse.

Everything from the Academy stadium to the footbridge linking it with the main stadium, is sponsored by a different company.
December 9, 201411 yr did i hear city almost broke even in the last accounts in fact, take out the ffp fine and i think they were profitable
December 9, 201411 yr My mates lad is at Accrington Academy, other week the played City, U9's I think, anyhow Agueros lad was playing for City and Accy beat them twice in 2, 20 minutes games. He did say Agueros lad was different gravy though. Van Persie, Darren Fletcher and Phil Neville chose City over utd for their kids.

December 9, 201411 yr did i hear city almost broke even in the last accounts in fact, take out the ffp fine and i think they were profitable I love how they could be competing with United on everything soon.....and its took what 10 years ???!!!

December 9, 201411 yr To me it does not feel right the amount of money thrown at Man city is obscene, but you can say the same for Chelsea and Man U and I hope it all implodes, I truly do, it's ruining football in my eyes. Edited December 9, 201411 yr by Mounts Kipper

How is it ruining football? the money finds its way down the Pyramid eventually. Anyway is Franny still at Citeh?
December 9, 201411 yr How is it ruining football? the money finds its way down the Pyramid eventually. Anyway is Franny still at Citeh? Because no one can compete with the money being thrown at the top 3-4 clubs there has always been a gap granted but now it's that big it's unbridgeable.
December 9, 201411 yr Because no one can compete with the money being thrown at the top 3-4 clubs there has always been a gap granted but now it's that big it's unbridgeable.A few years ago folk were saying there's no hope anyone can challenge the big 4 of manyoo, Chelsea, arsenal and Liverpool. Look what's happened since.
December 9, 201411 yr Couple of comments in response to above posts. Bolton havnt competed for players with city for a few years. As mentioned, it's about the scouting network relationship when players are released from city. However players as less likely to leave as they are schooled there and even when dropped from an elite group the player can stay signed on in a development group. City will have an elite group and dev group from 6-21. Hyde do have three further payments from city as per agreement. Finance is certainly not the main issue with that clubs 1st team. Them 4 still in for top 4 at beginning of the season and the other possible is city who have been bank rolled I don't see a day when 4 from that 5 are not top 4.
December 9, 201411 yr For the good of football I'm hoping one day there's a limit placed on how many squad players you can have. Also a wages cap for teams. Other sports do it. The NFL is hardly mickey mouse.
December 9, 201411 yr Same can be said for City and the money. It can But you said what utd have been doing in Asia is worse or something?
December 9, 201411 yr Also a wages cap for teams. Other sports do it. The NFL is hardly mickey mouse. It's easier to administer in the NFL as it's just in one country. Trying to get a wage cap across all the nations will be nigh on impossible.

December 9, 201411 yr And the mum is Maradona's daughter I think. It's like they've genetically engineered this child. And his godfather is Messi.

The NHL as issue with their wage cap, because of the candian teams and the different tax in the US and Canada, and that acoss just 2 countrys cane you imagine acorss the world in every league , hell it make my head hurt
