Interesting article in the Bolton news tomorrow from Neil Bonnar posing the question will Chungy will ever play for Bolton again. Seems a strange article unless he has some inside knowledge.

It seems not all countries insure players but does that mean the South Korean FA have to pick up his wages until he's fit?

We're probably okay for Chungy's wages, but I thought we were looking for around £1 million in a transfer fee for Chungy this month. If nobody signs Chungy this month, which is pretty likely, because of his injury, he could well leave for free in the summer, which could balls up Lennon's wish list this month.

Chungy likely on 25k per week he has 20 weeks left on his contract so potentially if he is injured until the end of the season that frees up 500k and I don't think Celtic would want more than that for Commons as he is out of contract at the same time as Chungy and 31.

but if, say, that money could be used to get commons in (or whoever), then I'd sell, because we'd know for sure they'd be here next season

 

however, if we don't need the money to clinch our january targets, then yeah, keep him and hope between now and summer that whatever we need to do to keep him, can happen, whether that's him agreeing to a pay cut or us going up or what

We've done that in the past and ended up suffering.

 

I don't think we're in a position to turn down a million pounds for a player. If genuinely we were in with a shout of promotion fair enough. But it is a huge, massive long shot to even make the play-offs. With that in mind I'd rather go into next season with a million quid, plus half a seasons saved wages to replace Lee with than go into it losing him with a complete inability to sign a replacement of any sort. In my view we are where we are because of short term thinking. Instead of accepting our financial state we've gone out and brought rubbish but expensive loans in. Or panic bought. We need to accept that we're broke and act accordingly. Throwing a million quid away on a massive long shot is not doing that.
