  • He just called you a cunt

  • I’m a centre right, reasonably free thinking person with interests in theology and politics expressed in an eclectic and often poorly spelt manner. I won’t always be right (who is?)    I have a prof

  • They're singing "We're racist" for fucks sake. If it was a group of black men kicking a white bloke off a train in Bolton, you'd be saying they're animals and calling for them to be hung.

Years ago when watching England away was a pretty dangerous pastime, there would be a large amount of England fans who would look down their noses at 'lads' and the scrapes they got into. Ringing in to 606 and the like pouring scorn on the behavior of people who had the audacity to fight back at riot police and their batons.

That was until the Turks/Arabs/Poles/Italians started twatting them, at which point they'd come hiding behind the lads for protection or vengeance.

When radical extremists spread their filth across the street of Britain in an attempt to destabilise society with the suicide vest, meat clever, or 18" butchers knife, I've a funny feeling the leftist melts (I like that word) in denial of a dangerous undercurrent will be doing something similar.

The answer will be the same as all those years ago. Go and fuck yourselves.

For what its worth too, those Chelsea fans were dicks. But if you want to lump those into the same bracket as people who dare say 'wooahh, we are not quite happy with extremists on our streets' they clearly you are a bit of a bellend.

Why do we have to bring up some old misty eyed portrayal of the football 'lad' as a well-meaning, misunderstood, usually salt-of-the earth, only ever fights or intimidates their 'own' - a last bastion of 'what you see is what you get geezerness', and when the chips are down...

Some of the most unpleasant f*cking c*nts I've ever had the misfortune to share space with have been football 'lads', granted, some of them, some of the finest fucking human beings on the planet, too.

Those Chelsea fans, the ones who did owt, aren't merely 'dicks', they're cowardly fucking shithouses, whichever way you look at it, the fact remains, he was one, they were many - if he'd been built like Lennox Lewis and a moody looking c*nt, I suspect they wouldn't have been so quick to manhandle him.

That said, the naming and shaming without a proof of guilt is bang out of order, the scrambling to blanket condemn and be seen as not being a nasty racist without the whole picture was symptomatic of the black/white, for/against, goodies/baddies snap decision no critical-thinking bollocks that the rise of social media ferments like sugared yeast.

The profiteering and sensationalism surrounding this case is disgusting.

Nobody comes out of this smelling of roses.

I probably don't agree with Bobcat in all aspects of this. I do, however, completely understand mistrust of muslims. No doubt the vast majority are good and decent folk (certainly the one my missus works for and his extended family are) but you can't blame someone for not trusting them when a large majority of atrocities we are witnessing around the world on a depressingly daily basis are perpetrated by followers on the same stone age religion. Many spiders aren't poisonous but would you juggle with a handful?

I actually agree with most of your post. Throwing around accusations of racism isn't helpful and inaccurate.

Do you not think the same argument is used by those ISIS activists in reverse? Are they not picking up people who have had their families bombed or killed by Western states and brainwashing them into thinking that the West is evil, using exactly the same kind of rationale that you are using?

On a lighter note, I wondered if Abba would be boycotted nowadays

Cassie you melt????

I tell you what, they wouldn't be pop stars these days in that (very fine imo) form (the girls, not the blokes, unless... :) ) - they'd have had to have their teeth done, tits done, shit tattoos applied, botox, nose-jobs etc.

I'd never heard they'd done a sickening ditty like that.

It's hardly a 'coon-song' though surely, for the uninitated, this is a style of music popular at the turn of the (last) century, google it, some of the songs hardly bare thinking about - and as an example of their popularity, when black champion Jack Johnson fought for the Heavyweight Championship against Jim Jeffries, the great white hope for restoration of the belt to the 'whites' - he'd actually been persuaded out of retirement as Johnson kept whipping all the other white contenders, the ringside band struck up the charming number ''All Coons look alike to me''...Times have changed, well, maybe not in 70s Sweden.

If in the weeks after the London tube bombings, you were on a very packed tube and an Asian wearing a rucksack tried to force his way on, what would your reaction be??

I would tell him to fuck off

Now does that make me racist or cautious about the atrocities that the extremists have been carrying out??

Really don't think anyone did that on this thread.

It was the other way round IMO. Folk that condemned their behaviour were automatically tarred with the lefty bed wetter melt tag.

It's quite possible to deplor Islamic Extremism and think those Chelsea lads were racist bullies that need a good shoe in at the same time you know.

Its very saddening to read this thread! The exact reason that I dont go to the match anymore, cant stand the casual racism from a significant minority! Its like its almost a pre-requisite in some peoples minds that its part and parcel of being a football 'lad'!

It's objectionable to me that some folk can't accept the ''we're racist and that's the way we like it'' singing may, I repeat, may have been a bunch of fucking bullies and cockends trying to be 'edgy' and/or humorous or even coming out with a display meant more as 'one in the eye for the PC lot' rather than a display of pride in being genuinely racist...

Folk like Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle - whether you find them funny or not, have sort of paved the way for this 'ironic' racism/sexism/poking fun at disabilities etc. - I'm not saying some don't use this as a front for genuine racism, I'm also not saying because it may be coached in shit 'irony' it's acceptable.

But when you get every man and his dog jumping out to publicly condemn it, and you get folk who may be completely innocent being named and shamed, faces plastered over the papers, their places of work meithered, a genuine witchhunt, a blanket tarring with the same brush - you can imagine why some are sticking their head above the parapet against trend - and it's being misconstrued as a defence of bullies (which at at best some were), this isn't a head in the sand approach that doesn't realise some of them may be bullies also harbouring genuine racist feelings.

Thought this thread would have been locked by now

Genuine question..... What on earth is casual racism?

Has racism now got layers , from light to casual to extreme? Maybe it's just weekend racism, something to do in your spare time, when not at work?

Suppose it's a different reason for not going though.

You are a casual racist if you only fuck white girls

You are a casual racist if you only fuck white girls

what about if you like being bummed only by white blokes, does that also make you a racist?

Why? wrong sort of debate?

Same points labored over and over again

Yes, but only a casual one!

Same points labored over and over again

simples, read another thread then.

Is it a SEB, on this thread? If you mean on the site as a whole, it's an old favourite, yes. :)

The final paragraph is where I am at.

Regarding the first bit...I'm reading this thread a bit differently to be honest and those appearing to question the behaviour of the media are getting lumped in with the chelsea neanderthals.

Either way it's another example of the fucked up society these extremists from all walks are creating.

Quality! Much missed talent, still brings me out in tears.
