A few have said before condemning someone you need to see everything that went on, surely that is reasonable ?

 

A few have said there is a media over reaction, let's take race out of the question, there is a video on the internet think posted on here of Wolves fans effectively stopping Bolton fans getting on a train at Horwich. The only difference is the race issue.

 

Singing 'we are Rascist' is stupid but does not mean they are bigots, in the same way not all Bolton fans are really ' barmy and off their fucking heads' or in fact Bolton are not 'by far the greatest team the world has ever seen'. They are dickheads and acting as such.

 

I do not condone the behaviour but is it the mass news story it has become ?

This site debates a wide range of stuff there are people with strong views that can debate most issues with differing opinions. You have a decent balance of folk who are mature and intelligent enough to debate the others views. You have the more 'lefty' types such as wigwam, Crawley and others and the dyed in the wool nazis like Smiths, Casino and Bolty. ( the use of the word nazi is irony btw)

 

Whenever Cheese gets on a thread he tries to dominate the thread by highlighting single lines, words or phrases in people's posts and slagging them off, it happens time after time on a number of threads and is just boring. You can ignore him but as people reply it defeats the object.

 

He claims on this thread it is not deliberate, which you can believe or not but the fact is that it happens time after time.

 

Is it because he is unpopular ? Maybe, but why is he unpopular ? Did he used to post as someone else and a similar thing happened ?

 

I think he is a waste of space on here not because of his views but because of how he conducts himself. It seems like he is trying to provoke a row rather than a debate. Somewhere between a petulant child and a politician for me.

This is where I'm at. What if the train came in, doors opened and the guy on the platform said something first to which the Chelsea fans took exception?

 

Or what if the train was uncomfortably full and nobody was shifting down inside the carriage?

 

I recall standing at Bromley x station a couple of seasons ago going up to Blackburn. Train came in and was heaving?

 

Everyone inside the train said no chance would me and wife and kids be getting on because it's full.

 

It just so happened that Anewman was stood a bit further into the train close to the doorway and convinced everyone to move down the train.

 

What if perhaps the black guy had no mates in the traintrain?

 

I'm not condoning the Chelsea fans but you can't take an obviously edited video in isolation.

I thought the same when I saw that video of the wolves fans kicking in the train window on Horwich Parkway the other week.

 

There could have been more to it,like someone had let off a smoke bomb or even a small fire had started and they had no option but to kick the window in and hurl abuse at the fans on the platform.

 

Either that or they were just being dickheads causing aggro?

And it would nice to think that the same people who have the same reaction if the roles were reversed, ie English/white on platform, sure lots would but not all. IMO.

After waiting to see the full extent of this, and seeing both sides, i come to the conclusion that some of you are in self denial. It's pretty clear that on a public transport system, where the guy trying to get on the train is just trying to board the train, is first not being allowed to (when there is plenty of room), and secondly after a couple of attempts, the final clip is the racist chant. No smoke bombs, nowt else, just a minority of English football fans being bastards.

It is an emotive subject Bolty. Has it been overblown? possibly. Do the media over here love any anti-english fan abroad actions? They sure do. But I can't help look at this and wonder when it will end. The fact that it can still happen (and put this into perspective of the number of games that english fans watch abroad, and then the number of incidents that happen is quite low, especially compared to other countries supporters), still irritates me.

The problem is as we as a nation love condemning other nations for racism and rightly so. But when we as a nation are involved we should then take the same stance. I don't know if they are racist or not but it doesn't look great.

Spot on for me. Overblown certainly, but we can't be moaning at FIFA awarding world cups to Russia due to their fans' racist views if we aren't then going to condemn our own, however minor the percentage

It doesn't matter what their true beliefs are. There is absolutely no way of determining what someones true beliefs are. It is like the Nazi Prison guards saying "i only did it because I was ordered to and too scared to disobey, I didn't believe in it". Or ISIS members claiming they only do what they do on instruction from Allah. It amounts to the same thing, if you push a man off a train then sing that you are racists and like it, that is an act of racism. It doesn't matter whether you truly believe it or not.

 

If I go to Prestwich and start shouting the Holocaust didn't happen, it doesn't matter whether I believe that to be the case or are just shouting it as a joke. The result, and action are exactly the same.

 

This is what people are generally getting wrong here. It isn't ok. It isn't just football fans "messing around". The end result is just that a bloke can't get on a train. Yes it is hardly the worst thing that will ever happen. But it is wrong. It is horrible, and it does need to be dealt with properly.
