Presumably those people on here condoning the behaviour of these idiots wouldn't have minded if their wives, girlfriends, daughters had been on the tube and the fans were chanting about being rapists instead of racists? It doesn't matter what their true beliefs are. There is absolutely no way of determining what someones true beliefs are. It is like the Nazi Prison guards saying "i only did it because I was ordered to and too scared to disobey, I didn't believe in it". Or ISIS members claiming they only do what they do on instruction from Allah. It amounts to the same thing, if you push a man off a train then sing that you are racists and like it, that is an act of racism. It doesn't matter whether you truly believe it or not.

 

If I go to Prestwich and start shouting the Holocaust didn't happen, it doesn't matter whether I believe that to be the case or are just shouting it as a joke. The result, and action are exactly the same.

 

This is what people are generally getting wrong here. It isn't ok. It isn't just football fans "messing around". The end result is just that a bloke can't get on a train. Yes it is hardly the worst thing that will ever happen. But it is wrong. It is horrible, and it does need to be dealt with properly.

You could argue that people behave differently in a crowd than they would if they were on their own but it probably wouldn't be much of a defence.

I would rather it has been brought to light rather than covered up, personally. The question of whether you can pin enough on individuals from that video to take appropriate action may be different.

The Big Cheese PM'd me his number and we arranged to meet up tonight for handbags in Chorley.

I tried to ring the number before setting off but it didn't even ring, not even to voicemail, no ringing tone, nothing, just total flatline.
